Cybertruck Owner Breaks Finger Trying To Show Car Is Safe

I’d imagine putting your finger in any automated trunk assembly would cause some level of injury before it stopped.
Non-automated car boots too. Don't ever slam shut the tailgate on a MK1 Fiesta with your finger in the way. It hurts. A lot. And the tailgate locks itself (no central locking back in those days). Which makes removing said finger from said tailgate a real pain. Literally.
Ask me how I know.

Ouch! 😭

How many people actually had their fingers injured though? Apart from a YouTuber who put his in there on purpose.

The fact that it made it to a UK Mercedes forum is insane. Especially considering the fact that the car probably won’t ever be sold in the UK. Just goes to show the reach that Tesla has I guess.

Erm, What about Children?

Why shouldnt it make a non-Tesla forum? You spend enough time here flying the Tesla flag, possibly talking about the brand more than oneone else on here - Spreading The lords Musks good work :D :D :D

I remember someone trapped my finger in the door of a vehicle when I was a kid. It hurt, but I survived 💪🏻

No internet back then and it wasn’t a Tesla so it doesn’t count I guess!

I spend my time recalling my experiences or as you call it ‘flying the flag’ of a brand that I own 2 cars (soon to be 3) from, you spend your time doing the opposite without ever owning one?

So I guess we have similar interests anyways? Out of interest have you ever actually been inside/driven a Cybertruck? or even seen one in real life?

How many children have hurt their hands messing around with doors/trunks on every other brand that exists? Not newsworthy is it.

Does anyone actually still do this? I know it was popular back in the day, but nowadays you can get the new iPhone pretty easily online.
But not have it you hand at midnight the day its launched!!!....saddo's!! My sons Iphone 13 Pro had a list price of well over ten times that of my cheap Samsung A14....apart from a better quality camera, especially in low light, it can do nothing my phone cant do.

I’ve never understood that myself, I like iPhones and buy pretty much every major generation change (often not the S models) - but never queued up, but I don’t see anything wrong with people who want to do that. People can do what they want.

I have to disagree with that. Perhaps you don’t use your phone/its features enough to warrant it but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it for others.

My phone has replaced my laptop 99% of the time. I do literally everything on it from trading to working on 100 page documents. There are massive differences between the top of the range flagship phone and a lower spec’d one.

An excellent point.

Are Tesla and Apple products really over priced and inferior compared to equivalents?

I read online here and elsewhere about Apple and Tesla fanbois in the cult/follower mould suggested in this thread, but I’ve never actually met one in real life. That’s even more remarkable in the case of Apple, because there are blooming loads of them!

That's because it a load of Bollox. If you buy a product, be it, Apple, Tesla or whatever and your happy with it, of course your gonna defend it, from the cobblers that's spouted about them. 🙄🤬

I don't use Apple and don't have a Tesla, and yet I absolutely admire what these two companies achieved.

I think Tesla is nothing more than a massive Ponzi sheme. :)
The amount of things that Musk has promissed that have never been delivered!

Was talking to a chap on an aircraft a couple of weeks ago that has the business across the road from us.
Last 3 cars have been Tesla, he will not buy again as the latest low mileage one needs suspension work that they want £15k to fix!

Regardless of his various shortcomings, Elon Musk created a market that didn't exist before, and built and sold over 5 million electric vehicles. That's an indisputable fact. Give credit where credit is due.

Presume he must have been happy with his Tesla's in general, as he's had 3. This last one, he's been unlucky. Unfortunately it happens. To ALL manufacturers inc Merc. And wouldn't be at all suprised if it finishes up costing nowhere near, 15 grand to fix.

Never said he did not, that's a great achievement.
I've not had a Tesla but may get one if the price was right.

It's all the other promises that never happen, watch some of the videos, it's almost like a cult and people just forget when things don't materialize.

I do find it interesting when Tesla execs. cash in their shares when you have the likes of Cathie Wood saying the stock will go up 1300%. With her record it's likely to go down 1300%. :)

That's often the case with visionaries.

There’s a different mindset in innovative technology companies regarding what most people might considering failure, ie not doing what was previously said. Making lots of claims and trying lots of things - allowing some to be aborted - helps them to deliver much more than they would have with a more conventional mindset.

Google for example pull products from the market - not just for sale but for use too - because they decide it’s not right for them moving forwards. Accepting that this happens - and other compromises - is offen confused by other people as being a fanboi or following a cult, it’s not it’s just understanding the way they operate.

Google are a good example. They withdraw live services regularly - and prematurely - including the Nest Secure home security system. I had invested significantly in it with many sensors across the properties. It was and still would be the best affordable home security system - it was brilliant -but they pulled it this year.

Disappointing that I didn’t get the use out of it that I expected but I knew it would be a possibility, so I accepted it when it was announced - I had benefitted from great products and services in the meantime. It doesn’t make me a Google fanboi or cult follower, I just understood the possibilities and banked on the pros outweighing the cons.

It working stop me buying Google again. No doubt Tesla and Apple buyers/users are the same, they are realistic and accept the compromises because they believe the benefits are worth it.
