Car
Merc 190e Cosworth
The date has been set for Saturday the 8th November

Location is at Bassingbourn Airfield (near to Royston on the Cambridge/Hertfordshire borders)

Costs £100 per car (includes 2 drivers, additional driver per car £10)........THIS IS THE COST TO TAKE YOUR OWN CAR ON THE TRACK

There will be instructors that will take you out and teach you lines, braking points etc

The Peugeot and Caterham will be there

For those of you that do not want to drive their own car on the track there is a Caterham that is available for hire for Track Days...the cost of the car is £500 (includes full support/tyres etc) so if you are interested in that let us know and the cost can be shared between those that want to drive it....this is not our car so we would need to book it asap to ensure its avaialble!!

The reason that this event is at an airfield? you have all the fun of race circuit but you have HUGE run off areas, so the chances of damage are very low.

For those of you that want to drive your own cars but are worried about damaging them, we can recomend you to an insurance company that specialise in Track Days.

This is a day for fun (and to improve our driving skills)

Spaces are limited so this has to be on a 'first come, first served basis'

Sorry but they wont allow bikes at this event, but if you are interested in a bike track day please let me know (if there are enough of us we will try and sort this out too).

Contact me at [email protected]

Am interested in chipping in with a group for the hire of the Caterham.

Not into using my car, it's not really a track day sort of car.

Will have to check my diary...........
Might take the "Westy" ;) .......... Slick tyres...... :D
It needs an airing ......:p

None of you have sent me an email to enquire/book a place at the track day :(

We are now taking the Peugeot, Caterham and a Renault Clio 3.0 V6 so we are going to have lots of fun :bannana: :p

I hope that at least some of you have booked your place directly with Motorsport Events as it would be a shame to think that you will all be at home washing & polishing your Mercs, when you could be out having fun

Bearing in mind I wont use my car for a track day, £500 seems rather excessive to say the least.

As said in one of the other threads, you cna have a Ferrari day for half that money.

Sorry, but I for one certainly haven't got that kind of money to throw away for one days fun. £100 would be OK if I could use my bike but most track days wont allow cars and bikes out at the same time.... :(

I must admit to being very tempted by http://www.thewheelieschool.co.uk/ the other day which seems to be priced very reasonably considering....

Hi Sp!ke, the Ferrari experience is normally very limited in time/laps in the car (ie, morning brief, then instructor drives for a while to show you lines etc, then you get to drive, when a friend did it he was restricted to 5 laps in the car), the £500 for the Caterham was for the whole day, no limits on time etc and I was suggesting that people got together to share the cost, because I agree at £500 its not a cheap day out!!

We are also into bikes, so I will post on here details of any bike track-days (i hope thats not against the rules of the forum as its not about mercs).

If you want to learn how to wheelie I might have an option for you, I know a tv series about bikes which is being filmed at the moment, I was asked a couple of weeks ago if I knew anyone that wanted to learn how to pull wheelies....so let me know if you are up for it & I will find out if they are still trying to find someone.

9.00am!

If you are interested, this was the best run track day that I have ever been to.

Day starts with a drivers safety/rule brief, then you all follow an instructor around the track (at low speed) you know where the track goes, then split into 3 groups for 15 minute section per group, then its an open track so you go out as much as you want (day started at 9am & finished at 4.30pm due to light).

Due to excellent organisation etc not one car was damaged!!

If you guys ever want to organise a day out or if you just want to go on your own please try http://www.motorsport-events.co.uk/index.html

In fact its so good we are going to Goodwood with them on Friday

No piccies for the likes of me to drool over? Glad to hear the day was such a great success :) I would have loved to attend but alas my finances don't allow me to at the moment :( Did you take Stuart's race Peugeot for another spin? My regards to all there that would know me :)

S.

Some pics were taken by a company organised by Motor Sport Events (when cd arrives I will post some here).

We took the Peugeot (which has now had all the signwriting changed) ,Stuarts new addition a Renault Clio 3.0V6 Supersport and Julian's Caterham.

I managed to spin the Renault (my error, something to do with corner speed, traction & physics) oops  I then managed to spin the Peugeot (car in front braked mid-bend, as I was cornering faster to overtake him on the exit I had to brake harder)oops  and the Julian let me drive the Caterham, under his instructions I was told to accelerate, I did and guess what, we spun again, oops

I was in very good company though, as the renault was also spun by one of the instructors (a chap who raced in British Touring Cars until he became too friendly with the team bosses wife!!) and the Caterham was also spun by Julian and his friend Steve, Steve is also a bit good as he has just won the Honda CRX series (damm all these race pro's us mere mortals dont stand a chance!).
