Deal or No Deal?

Just been quoted £250 to get the coupe roof side strip and rear quarter resprayed and laquered. (Laquer peeling off :o )Plus having the rear bumper sprayed as well. Deal or no deal, what do you think?

Average cost of panel repray is around £100. A good backstreet bodyshop may be able to quote you less but £250 sounds the normal going rate. A bonnet respray on a W203 by a approved MB bodyshop is £300 plus depending on where you go.

250 sounds like a very good deal. Assuming its done properly.

I stumbled across this guy while doing a gearbox swap on that damned W208. (No offence intended to 208 owners) I saw the quality of his work on a number of cars and to be honest they were very good. I dont have a clue as to what the current costs are likley to be. OK I know Merc charge an arm and a leg so I am really after what people would be prepared to pay taking into consideration that I may be tasked with wing replacements etc in the very near future.

If you are happy with a work

I'd say sounds very reasonable. The best price that I've got from couple of MB auth. bodyshops to respray bonnet (plus 'blend' on the wing) was £580 + VAT. But then again they've done stellar job. (thanks Flash for recommending them).

Regards Voya

If it helps, from an MB approved sprayer, I have been quoted 500.00 to have the 2 front wings and bonnet sprayed, along with tidying up a few scuffs around the front headlamp washer area and front bumper touch ups. The 2wings I have to supply, though not sure how much they are.

Still thinking whether to do this or not.

Hi Ian,
I'm a great believer in you get what you pay for. If you have seen the person and are happy with his facilities, then price must surely be secondary. I am old fashioned and still like to see proper spray booths with bake facilities. The back street garage with perhaps just an extractor fan might be alright for a short term jobbies, but if it were my car, then I would want something better and hopefully this person is 'something better' :)

Regards,
John
