Dealer declining rust claim.

What about Paul's tailgate rust on his Vito????

Still in the balance, Lee.

I have an alternative plan that is taking a fair while to orchestrate, but I'm hopeful.

The main dealer called me a week or so ago to remind me that my Vito was due for a service. I told them that none of my Mercedes vehicles would visit a dealership again because my rust claim had been rejected and given that I own three MB's the decision to deny the claim was bad business on their part. "But it is Mercedes-Benz that have said no, not us" said the dealership guy.

At least it's nice to hear Wobbly has got a result of sorts. :thumb:

What the customer services guy said and what he meant are probably two different things...DM will be closer to the truth methinks.

I'm clearly slightly less cynical than you and DM... :D

True, but I didn't name the dealership until the 14th March, it was the 21st when they contacted me.

Don't gloat too much, Wobbly displays his location in his avatar details, had already been asking for the repair history prior to his first post on this and it took writing a letter to the DP before any action was taken.

Nothing to do with writing on the forum, that was just a throw away line from the CS manager.

Oh, you know the guy then...

That's handy.

At least we now know 100% this was the case given you know it was fact.

If they are reading this thread then I'd like to take the opportunity to tell them that my last 2 Mercedes have been disasters in terms of rust, electronic gremlins, and general shoddy design, workmanship, quality of components used and snooty disinterested dealers.

I'd dearly love to drive a newish Mercedes as my everyday car but got sick of being taken for a mug.

Kind of is, isn't it... ;)

Nope, because if you don't know the guy, your guess is as good as mine, and therefore my post about you and RTS21 being more cynical stands...

your guess is as good as mine,

So, you've finally agreed it probably isn't because he had been reading Wobbly's thread.

MB nor dealers give a fig about internet forums, they are more bothered about shifting metal.

.. rusty or otherwise ...

No, not at all.

I still think there is a slim chance he did look at this thread (which is what I've thought since wobbly posted it), given that is what he said, but you don't think he did at all - which is why I am saying you are more cynical.

We wont ever 100% know of course but it matters not anyway given the outcome.

I would still never use that dealership on the principle of them messing wobbly around in the first case and being of no use whatsoever.

If there is a problem, and you sort it out to my or whoever's satisfaction, I will use you.

If there is a problem, and you piss me or whoever (in this case wobbly) about, I will never use you again, regardless of what happens after that i.e. you read this thread or whatever.

You're probably going to be stuck for where to buy your next Mercedes from then. ;)

Na - I would ask the dealer (non-franchised) who I bought mine from to look out for a car for me instead (if I am to buy another MB).

I'd never use a franchised dealer as I've never been in one where sales aren't f-ing arrogant and ignore you.

Even MB Bromley, who were good with me and my car in the service department, commit massive acts of **** piggery when it comes to servicing our FD's Merc - and I've now got her to start using my inde (recommended from here in the first place).

It's hard work, that's for sure - so I obviously need to hang on to my car as long as possible!
