Dealer declining rust claim.

Ask for the original ESKULAB report. If MBUK were involved there will be one.

Perhaps to be "lost in the system" later.

I'm currently at loggerheads with Mercedes over their 'system' of service history.

I've got receipts from the five services that my car's had from Mercedes dealers, yet they 'only' have a record of one on their system. I've been in touch with the dealers that did the work and they've said 'it was before our time and we can't access those records'.

When they did very extensive work on mine, the bodyshop supplied the courtesy car and no paperwork on the repair existed at any time. Built-in deniability, I imagine.

Paintwork repairs will be recorded as goodwill rather than a warranty repair, and depending upon when the work was done, the goodwill might have come from the dealer rather than MBUK, eg immediately after purchase.

Out of interest - have there been any examples of this on this forum?

Call me cynical but I imagine MB UK would laugh as much as the dealers at wobbly's expense.

I had a level sensor replaced 'under warranty' yet no invoice, receipt or record on the system.

It's been fixed so I didn't worry about it but with hindsight ....

Always worth drawing the distinction between the dealership and MB UK. 9 times out of 10 MB UK don't know what's being done in their name as few customers escalate their problems to MB. The dealerships can be deplorable and MB UK need to be made aware so they can 'remind' them of their franchise T&Cs ...

Quite right...

Some years ago Vauxhall HQ made a 75% contribution towards a repair that the dealer refused to even refer to them (I paid the dealer in full and then wrote to Vauxhall who sent me a cheque in the post 'no questions asked' a few weeks later).

It's only covered for the exisiting warranty period anyway.

While we all hate being asked to pay a contribution towards repairs, it can be worth it as you then get some paperwork and the full parts guarantee applies.

I've had work done under warranty by Vauxhall, VW, and M-B ... never had any paperwork from any of them.

If you ask - will MB provide a print out of work done, including warranty repairs where no cash changed hands and no physical paperwork was generated?

^ I can't see why not. They take your car away for the period of time. It's only natural to document the reason for this.

i have a pretty good relationship with my local MB service manager.
anytime i am about to buy another merc, i supply them with the chassis number, and they give me a printout of all work undertaken through MB dealerships, including a seperate page with regards to any warranty work showing dates, mileages and work undertaken...

i am sure that is an available service if your known at your dealership.:thumb:

on the main topic, my latest GL is 3 years old and had the slightest of corrosion bubbles forming at the tailgate handle...99% of punters would never even notice, but i am a veteran of this now! anyways, dealership bent over backwards to have this put through on warranty immediately, even bypassing the 'ownership for 6 months disclaimer' which was introduced...i must also point out i did buy privately, and not from the dealer.

At the beginning of March I sent a letter to MBUK, detailing my problem, and the lack of help I have received from the dealer.

Today I received a call from MB in the Nertherlands, it was explained that there was no record of any repair being made to the tailgate of my ML, and there was nothing further they could do.

So thank you MB Brooklands for your total lack of help on this matter, and your ineptness to keep proper records of repairs carried out on customers cars.

You will no longer be see in my car or my partners C class, for service or repair.

"Mark Foster of Jaguar Land Rover said: ‘Land Rover operates a comprehensive warranty programme and a strong goodwill policy.

'All necessary repairs to this vehicle over 42,000 miles have been carried out under warranty.

'However, we are disappointed this customer’s experience has been unfortunate and as such we have made a goodwill offer towards helping him into a new vehicle.’ "

A Toyota?

Put the signs on the inside of the windows and lock the car ;)

when i had one wheelarch done under warranty, i also did not recieve any paperwork, when i asked for something, they refused and said they dont have anything they can give me

When my Vauxhall underwent warranty repairs some years ago, I asked the dealer to photocopy for me their internal work order, which they happily did. There is always internal paperwork (or computer record) for any job that takes place within the dealership's garage.
