The time comes in every mans life where he must make a big decision. The concequences are great so i'd really appreciate your opinions before i commit myself.......

Which wheels should i buy?
These:

Or these:
wheels2.jpg

:D

The first ones will suit a W202 better as they look a bit 'heavier'.

What have you got at present?

Do you prefer the two wheels you have posted and what does your partner think?

What is the costing of the new wheeels compared to value of your car? :o :o

Good luck with the decision
Regards
John

True, but with the delivery of my new drilled/grooved brake discs and braided hoses coming soon it might be nice to see through them!

I know what you mean about cleaning the bolts though, they do tend to hold grime and degrade/peel faster.

I'm leaning towards the first set, but its not an easy choice. Have decided to buy new replicas and invest elsewhere in the car rather than go for expensive new originals or damaged 2nd hand ones.

top one.

The word you're search for is chiropractor, according to the business card of the one I go to see every month :D

Top .

Top...deffo.....llook better and the silly bolty bits are a pain to clean...I have a set of them (replicas) which I took off my 60.

Neither as they're copies.

In an ideal world (where i'm very wealthy :)) i'd agree, quality would be better and those little three letters would be present, but with the situation as it is i can get a full set of brand new wheels with a good set of tyres for just under £700.

If i was to go for new AMG's then the cost becomes more like £1300, and i think that the money would be better spent elsewhere.

Im not aware of any major issues with the replicas as opposed to the AMG's??

agree.

eBay will eventually have decently priced AMG originals. Just got to bide your time.

for example, I got 4 AMG 18" wheels (staggered) with virtually new tyres for £1050 .. the tyres alone were £500, and I sold my old wheels (with very little tyre thread left) for £400.

Neither as they're copies.

I wasn't refering to the wheels..;)

I wonder if anyone will cotton on..

I agree with Stats - they're fakes and they tend to be pretty poor quality in my experience.

Don't want to sound like a scaremonger, but:

They're lighter and weaker than proper MB rims, I've seen plenty of these wheels dented (flat spotted) from UK roads. The lacquered metal lips tend to deteriorate even quicker than genuine wheels.

Aside from the initial cost, they'll probably cost you more in the long run. Pick up a set of used AMG wheels in good condition, and you'll always get your money back. Secondhand aftermarket wheels are worth very little.

I'd take used original wheels any day over new copies

You'll easily pick up a set of proper AMG wheels and tyres for the price you're looking to spend :)

Will
