I've noticed that two of my wheels are starting to look a bit shabby due to corrosion.

Having done some googling and phoning I’m getting quotes of circa £100 for a diamond refurb (per wheel) with a turnaround of about 5 days.

The other option that has been mentioned is getting all four wheels painted.

The issue is only with the rear wheels the front ones are perfect.

What's the best option?

Get them painted, diamond cut's only purpose is to keep wheel refurb companies in business.

If you get a scrape on a painted wheel you can leave it till you want to get it fixed and could even have them touched up if minor enough, or just don't bother, and wait till the wife does a big one to get them done.

Diamond cut needs looking at straight away to avoid corrosion getting in behind the lacquer, is more expensive and each time it takes more of the rim away.

Sooner that trend ends the better!

^That. They look good but they are much more money to repair that painted/coated wheels in our experience. Also, with painted wheel, a man in a van can repair in under an hour; DC wheels need to be given to a company which can be a pain in itself if the company isn't on the doorstep.

its very much a personal preference thing. My wheels are diamond cut / gun metal two tone, and I love the very modern look of this finish, hence I would have them refurbed as opposed to painted :)

Mine are painted with just the rim being polished/cut alloy. Once they show signs of deterioration they will be getting painted all over.

There's a wheel refurb company literally 5 minutes away from me who will do whatever you want with them but they won't guarantee diamond cut due to the lacquer getting water under it.

Those minor scrape policies that a dealer will try to push on you won't cover them either.

I did mine amg mono 2's powdercoated black inside and dc rims with no laquer on them as the company said it will start corroding pretty quick so left it without laquer
That was a bad decision as the brake dust sits on dc lips and very hard to clean them.
So got tired of cleaning them and polished the lips now and with wax on them very easy to clean them.
If you want them clear coated go for painted option

Same dilemma - mine are not so much scraped/damaged but unsightly "snail trails" around the centre points of both rears.

Diamond cut look fantastic but given limited refurbers and then only 12month warranty, at £125/corner - suspect that painting is logical route.

Recommendations around M60 J1 and vicinity would be appreciated.

Actually with the 'minor scrape' policy that a dealer I work for uses, they will :thumb:

But for longevity, base and clear :)

Keep them looking orig, if they are diamond cut just send them off the the right place and get them done properly and they will last.
Just had all four of mine done by Autowerks and they look fab
