Decided on the Getrag straight 5th box. I'm looking for a 2.47 diff which I think gives the best compromise. Seem to be a bit thin on the ground though.

Update.
Engine/gearbox now fitting car. 2.47:1 diff located at scrappy in Lancashire and should be heading north beginning of May. Things are hotting up.

So the answer to the previous question is....yes, some diffs will fit but you have to pick the right one and be prepared to do a little work.

I was considering lowering the 2.24 in the 500 as 47MPH in 1st and 83 in second is a bit much!
