I've just bought a new set of wheels fitted with Continental supersport 2 tyres.

There appears to be no indication on the tyres themselves as to the direction of rotation.

Anyone know if it is an issue or not?

thanks

no problem Alfie, thats correct.

I have rear contisport 2's and have just checked them.

If you look at the tread pattern it is a simple even grooved pattern and looks is the same whether you loo at it from the front or the rear.

A directional tyre has grooves eg typically on outside edge at eg 45 degrees and hence the road contact and water dispersion is different if they are on the right v wrong way round - if you see what I mean ;) eg <<<< versus >>>>>

Cheers Ian.

I looked on a new shape CLK nearby this morning and it has the conti Sport tyres also. They are as you say.

My contis (premium contact) say "inside" and "outside" on the sidewalls, instead of having rotation arrows

Nick, I assume the tread is "not symetrical" or should that be "is asymetrical"

ie is it a non standard tread pattern type :D

yes asymetrical, there is a big fat circumferential groove near the outer shoulder and two smaller ones further in. They don't look "quite right" when viewed from behind (where you can see two at the same time) as they are obviously all the same tyre rather than being designed for left and right use.
