Disappointed with my car. Respect to the 335d!

Thanks for the replies everyone; had a chuckle at a few.

Wish I'd bought an E63 twin-turbo now!
I'm so glad you have a sense of humour. Sometimes these threads go totally haywire. I agree for the tt E63 next, it's incredible.

There was 535d mapped and Tuned by DMS at North weald the other month, Its was running 13's.

Even my old I6 e320 managed 15.2 which was only a second slower than some of the AMG's lol

There's a certain gent on here running c900ft/lb (yes ft/lb, not Nm) from his E63 biturbo.

He just needs to add the badges now and it would be the complete package :D.

I have as a second car runaround a BMW 335d

Was minding my own business the other day driving down a certain toll motorway. Having paid at the booth I thought I'd see what my car could do acceleration wise so as I exited I floored it.

Coincidentally, next to me a guy in an AMG, looked like a C63, had the same idea and was out of the toll booth just after me. I'm a boy racer, age is of no importance, so I thought there's clear motorway ahead, I'll teach the AMG owner a lesson. Right!
The bloody AMG just kept getting smaller and smaller in my rear view and I couldn't contain my laughter. We got to what for me is a slow speed and my car was so far ahead. Eventually, I felt sorry for him, and all the money he spent and backed off and as he went past me I couldn't help give him the thumbs up for buying a shed (I'm sure he saw me laughing at him!)

Little less "torque", lot less b0llox :)

Haha love it Chris! :ban:

Huge torque with a diesel though.

The 3.0 V6 diesel and 3.7 V6 petrol versions of the Vito and Viano have exactly the same 0-62 time, despite the petrol engine being bigger and having approx. 30 bhp more. But the diesel has 100 Nm more torque.

Were talking about a remapped 6.2 V8 here not a Honda. Hardly down on torque is it?

Something aint right here. 335's do not easily pull away from C63's at speed. They are of similar weight. I call bull.

I have a 2014 C63 saloon with the Eurocharged V5 map.

Was minding my own business the other day driving down a certain toll motorway. Having paid at the booth I thought I'd see what my car could do acceleration wise so as I exited I floored it.

Coincidentally, next to me a young lad in his 2008 E92 BMW 335d had the same idea and was out of the toll booth just before me. I'm not a boy racer, being well into my forties, but I thought there's clear motorway ahead, I'll teach the young whippersnapper a lesson. Wrong!
The bloody BMW just kept going and going and I couldn't gain on him. We got to what for me is a stupid speed and my car was just keeping up. Eventually, we both saw sense and backed off and as I went past him I couldn't help give him a thumbs up (I'm sure he let me pass so he could have a laugh at me!)

The thing is, and I know it's childish, it's been bugging me all week and made me feel differently about my car; disappointed with it. I know the BMW 3.0 twin turbo is formidable (I had one in my 640d) but I didn't think it would be more than a match for a re-mapped 6.2 V8. Do you guys think there may be something wrong with my car or the BMW was perhaps modified? I'd be interested to read your opinions.

Personally
I put my fishing gear away for the summer...................

looks like some ones been getting some good bytes though :)

You people are SERIOUSLY misunderstanding the BMW 3.0 Twin Turbo Diesel engines, just because you think you have an AMG and over 500bhp doesnt mean anything in the real world. Benzedup - with all due respect you beat this diesel by less than half a second, nothing to be massively proud of given your car, that could have just been down to his reaction time. Theres nothing wrong with the C63 or its driver, like i said out in the real world things can be very different from you expected after reading the stats on the internet.
once upon a time I beaten a R1 with a Vespa .....
That's how you compact both cars!;)

A mate of mine has a tuned 335d, and it is indeed a weapon. I'd hate to come up against it, as it would probably show me a clean pair of heels. That said, he came in last week with it broken. The actuator that switches between the turbos had packed up. Stuck in limp mode, it couldn't pull the c0ck off a chocolate mouse. How I laughed...

I had a 535d few years back. It was a very capable car and very quick. In the nine months I had it, I had alot of issues both mechanical and electrical.

Thanks for the entertaining posts everyone.

Just to make it clear, I'm not a wind up merchant or BMW fanboi looking for a reaction. This happened to me last week. I've had Mercs, BMW's and even Jags in the past so have no particular allegiance to any car manufacturer.

I started this thread because I was impressed with the BMW's performance and wondered if there was something not right with my car (and yes, I had it in S+.) There's no particular skill in hoofing a C63 from a rolling start and I still couldn't reign the BMW in.

Cheers.

We will have to find a remap for your right foot. Obviously there must be something not allowing you to press the pedal down far enough.
