Disaster! Smashed underside.

Heard from garage. Sounds like a lucky escape! Cracked fan cowling, but still functioning so fine to use; bent a pipe fixing, but not currently leaking so again fine to use; smashed front undertray, which I knew!

Had the oil and filter changed, new fuel filter, and brake fluid done. Just need to fit an undertray when I get one.

Phew!!! Xmas miracle!
Will you consider having that bent part of the pipe cut out and replaced? Polite question as I am curious about what folks would do?

I'll leave it for now, following the if it ain't broke philosophy.

ChrisEdu, Sorry to read of your problems and glad you were'nt hurt I have a different method when lifting my cars if the lift is along the axis of the car I leave the handbrake off and gearbox in neutral so the car moves to follow the radius of the jack arm only when the car is at the required height do I apply the handbrake and put the car in gear adding chocks as required my drive is level so there is no danger of a runaway. As always additional support before removing wheels or going under the car.

Chris, same happened on my E250 it pulled the jack pad clean off.

Like you i think that the jack hit a stone or something that stopped it rolling forwards, I was placing an axle stand when it went so the axle stand caught the car and the only damage was a crack to the undertray I was lucky and am now extra cautious when jacking the car up.

Makes me wonder how common this is!

This post is from DEC 2020 and Chris has not been on here for months ? I just hope he is OK, poor bloke doesn't enjoy the best of health 👩‍⚕️
