E-Class is off the road for a few days so I'm back in the A-Class which although I love dearly is a completely different ride.
Back home this evening on the usual commute which takes in a 7-8 mile stretch of winding up & down A road which is offically NSL but gives no real opportunity to overtake.
Despite this spent an uncomfortable 3-4 miles with a brand new W211 Estate a foot or less behind me at around 55 mph
First action was to slow to allow a good 5-6 car lengths in front of me in case the driver wanted to try their luck. No point pulling over as I'd cause a huge obstruction and visibility is pretty poor due to the way the road winds (often a breakdown on this stretch would normally add about 20mins to journey times).
Most of the time they were so close that I could bearly see the top of the indicators! I know it was an Avantgarde as I could admire the blue glass in the screen!
After about 4 miles driver pulls off down side road, masqueraid breathes sigh of relief and doesn't have to worry about justifying a rear shunt to his insurers!
Interestingly car behind them was also an 07 plate on a 650 coupe which maintained a perfectly safe distance for the remainder of my journey until we parted company some 15 miles later.
Sorry folks: MB 0 : BM 1
Probably would have happened if I was in the E but felt a whole lot less secure in the A (probably as it is nominally Mrs M's!).
