Does Engine oil have a shelf life?

I am having my car serviced next week and am providing my own mobil 1 oil as the local MB garage uses semi synth which I dont want used.

I have found an unopened 4 litre pack of mobil 1 in the garage which is about 2 years old. Is it safe to use this oil if it has been sitting around for a while? I dont see why not, but I just want to be sure.

If it's unopened or not it should be OK mate.

But...is there a time limit like Robbo says as I too have my own oil well in the garage, thing is I now have a car that does not need filling between services.... So I think I'm safe for atleast another 12 full oil services

Mobil 1 is fully synthetic so I wouldn't imagine it breaks down.
