I put a D/D Kenwood in my CLK. Quite painless as I already had Comand2 GPS fitted.

All I had to do was take a new fused wire from the ashtray sockets for the radio switched feed.
Wire in the reverse camera.
Connect a box between the cluster and its data socket to decode the steering controls.

The rest was plug and play and have never looked back

Tools required:

1 x hack saw
2 x balls of steel

Pretty straightforward really, just buy a couple of spare fascia's and a spare plastic bit that the fascia sits on and get chopping ! There is a thread on here somewhere

So connecting the wires is pretty basic then?

Yes, there's nothing complicated on a 202 so should be a plug and play as with a single din. The only extra will be the gps anntenna and any mic for hands free phone if you're having that.

I,m sure if you look at Justin1600 thread in the Projects section he showed how he went about doing the double din conversion, as electrically you should have no issues. The GPS antenna I would simply cable tie to the metal dash support frame, or under the parcel shelf.

Looks like one needs a password for that area

You are looking in the wrong section of the forum
Here is a link to the projects section I was referring too,

And a link to Justin1600 C43 Project thread, the entire thread is well worth a read, but he starts mentioning the DD conversion on Page 25 of the thread, post 364,
http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/mbclub-projects/128044-my-c43-amg-going-project.html
I thought I remembered another thread in the HOW TO section of the forum regarding fitting an early COMMAND system in a 202 (COMMAND is still a DD so is applicable even if you don,t fit OEM COMMAND), below is a link to it.
It is very old one of the earliest in the section Sept. 2003, but it has loads of pics which are still viewable and deals in quite good detail how to take the car apart and modifications and parts required.
