Downgrade SLK Comand APS Firmware

Hello.
I'm still searching the net for the older (the first) firmware version for my SLK Comand APS.
The version I'm looking for is:
W171 589 00 22 00 SW-Rel 9.390 Build 15/04

I already have this:
W171 589 03 22 00 SW-Rel 21.090 30/06
I got from an Austrian guy

But before to install that disk I want to be sure I can downgrade the version in the future.

I want to be sure about that because I want to be able to enter the Comand Engineering Setup.

I wonder if the version W230 589 00 22 00 is just the same but for another car and I can install anyway in my comand.
It show the same version and same serial othere then the Wxxx.

Can anyone spot a light on this issue and maybe give me the old version ISO file via email? (Should be compressed like 6/7Mb)

Furthermore.. can someone of you that have an SLK with the lates firmware W171 589 03 22 00 SW-Rel 21.090 30/06 make a trial for me trying holding down 1, 3, 8 keys simultaneously just after COMAND-APS is turned on?

Ok, What exactly is it you want to do in the Comand Engineering setup that means you want to run buggy software with less features (I think the new one gets the ETA on the nav screen option) ? Almost anything can be done by the dealer or various others with Star / other tools so as not to need that engineering menu.

You can not always go backwards on the DVD map software, dont know about the comand software, but certainly expect to mess up your saved destination lists, phonebook etc - and also, dont expect the down-grade to be well tested by Mercedes - and as your car is not in warranty this could be expensive.

W230 589 00 22 00 is NOT for your car (or even for comand-aps). Don't try and install the wrong software, you may kill your unit totally - although in all likelyhood it just won't install. But wipe the boot loader and you are completely stuffed (game over, unless you have an exceptionally smart Mercedes dealer) - cost €3k for a new unit :-(

Unlock Gearshift in P
Unlock General Pictures Lock
Unlock Speed 0 and 10 Km/h
Disable HollandMMI features
Enable LCT and IPS features

and change the MB startup logo into AMG logo

My MB garage is willing to do that BUT with the new firmware.. they don't even knew about that possibility and they don't have a clue how to do that so they told me we can together apply next week to do that.
So they asked me to ask around to know where to go trough the DAS?

Mate i have given you the part number for the disk that will leave the menu intact and you also have the latest version.

The COMAND will NOT let you downgrade the operating system software, you can update whenever you want but you can't go back.

Selecting the AMG logo can be done after installing the latest update but most of the other options need a DAS in factory mode and one of the smaller DAS units, most dealers use Compact3's and they don't allow these changes.

You also have the possibility of having the changes erased whenever a DAS short test is run on your car when a Compact3 is used.

Yes, all except the AMG logo - mainly because I havent looked for it.

Dealer has to get the factory mode password for this month from Mercedes, and put Star machine into factory mode (there is a strange key sequence documented in the help documentation on Star) - then its obvious.

Just a friendly tip off
Mercedes-Benz has issued a Service Bulletin to all main dealers telling them to charge any customers that complain of problems with their COMAND if it transpires they have palyed with the Engineers Menu. They specifically make mention of the 'AMG logo'. I fully accept we know what we are doing and I am merely repeating what is being said.

I am confused as to why you would want to change the above (red) settings -- it is both dangerous and ILLEGAL to watch dvd's whilst the car is moving...

Your 100% right on the dangerous and probably right on the illegal (He is in Italy remember) and we can make our views known or refuse to give info if we are against something but it is his choice at the end of the day.

I fully agree with Dan when we say at the end of the day, it is down to the end user. Although in my experience the 'end user' will always say the DVD in motion is for for just about anyone other than themselves and if they kill someone, you can put your mortgage on the fact they will never have the courage to be honest and confess to having this facility enabled.

I have mentioned the warning from Mercedes-Benz regarding the instructions regarding the Engineers Menu and thought it prudent to post the relevant information.

Thats the one John, it normally only applies when people change key settings (an option in the boot menu) and everything gets mixed up.

Normally switching from the MB to AMG startup does no harm but most AMG vehicles are also supplied with the star logo startup display because the AMG version is buggy, particularly with AM radio.

I restore it to a fully working thaks to the Austrian guy that tonight gave me the oldest firmware.
All setting i uesd where restored.
