Dpf arguments

Even when I was poor I never had a car with anywhere that level of mileage on, so maybe that's why I have no experience of DPF failure..

80,000 miles used to be 2 years worth of driving for me and I changed the car every three years, these days its about just over 3 years of driving so racks up pretty quickly.

People turning around cars under this mileage will never see a dpf failure so it's irrelevant in their purchase decision as where its a major factor in mine.

It wasn't even a consideration in my purchase although I was aware of potential issues from low mileage use.

I would say that 70% of the people I work with have DPF equipped diesels (up to 5 years old) and I have never heard of one person having a problem with their cars filter.

The only thing I have an issue with is that on my W219 there is no visable / audible indication on the dash that the car is doing its regen process , you have to listen for the tell tale signs (fan running and that really warm exhaust cooling down sound) when you exit the car and by that time the car is switched off which must be doing the filter no good at all being stopped mid clean.

If there was a warning then you could let the car finish its cycle before it is switched off.
