Thank you Markjay. I contacted my insurer and de escalated the claim to a notification. Ageas, the other party's insurer made it clear that once the claim was verified, I would lose neither my excess nor my no claims bonus. They were, indeed , very helpful.
Meerkats I can handle (Bake the little varmints in clay, like hedgehogs,) but ambulance chasers will doubtless become a nuisance.

Well, that is that. The car now belongs to the insurance company.
The settlement was fair and they were good to deal with. I am waiting for the hire car to arrive, mine 'til
Tuesday.
