Now I'm really drooling. Is this over priced? RHD?

Strangely enough John I was talking about this car on Sunday with Ian and Steve. I literally stumbled across it quite by accident when I went to the trophy shop for the local junior rugby team. Having seen it in the flesh with its 6.3 litre straight eight plus a supercharger I believe it's worth every penny. I asked for but couldn't have a test drive.

Damn, it's only the standard wheelbase. Tsk. FSH?

A real piece of craftmanship and engineering nice motor can only increase in value :)

Though built and sold after the merger, design-wise that car is a Mercedes, not a Mercedes-Benz.

Note Mercedes name and stars but no Benz laurel wreath on the front, yet "Mercedes Benz" on the engine top cover.

Trust me when I say I'm green with envy.

I wonder how much a first class hand made replica would cost?

I fully accept you cannot replicate heritage, but neither can I replicate £433,000. :)

John the VERY envious

Edit
Hi again kick the pussy cat,
I thought you were after a cabriolet? :)

Does it have a CDi engine????
I was thinking more about an electric roof that would would take twenty seconds fit. :)

No I would love to just cruise along the coastline of our English Rivera. Would I honestly prefer it to an SLR. You bet. Would I prefer it to a Maybach? I think so. This vehicle has more presence than any modern vehicle I can think of. Each to their own and this is my ultimate. Shame we haven't got the garage space.

aah - but has it got the right pedals. :D

Its very nice indeed, but I'd rather have one of these thanks:

Now how much of a petrolhead would you be, driving that around?

the garage blurb on John's link said:
Throughout its many years on the road another proud owner is also believed to have been an Austrian nobleman who used it as a family car.

Alarm bells are ringing!

I did think of both that and the older

but I still prefer the Mercedes

John, only Adolf Hitler looked any good in that era of Mercedes convertibles.

I don't know about that, some funny bloke with a Charlie Chaplin tache and a vomit-colour shirt standing up in a convertible making silly salutes - doesn't qualify as "looking good" in my books  :D :D.

:D :D Each to there own, but being of Polish decent I somehow don't see me as the Sieg Heil type  Ist gut mein herr :)

Wasn't Adolf's a bigger beast?

Regards
John
