courtesy of MB Tonbridge's AMG weekend. Only managed about 20 miles, but what utter heaven.
What a noise!! On starting, it's a mini explosion. The rumble and roar on the move is like a refined, cultured and crystal clear NASCAR sound. You absolutely definitely do not need a stereo. The engine and exhaust noise is sublime. There is no tyre roar to speak of.
The throttle response and power is utterly intoxicating .. gearbox is very quick. The difference between the C63 PPP that I drove immediately after the SLS is huge. SLS made the C63 PPP feel slow witted, lazy, and believe or not, slow. It's like the first time I drove an AMG after a C240 .. except now, it's an SLS after a CLS55.
Ride is firm but compliant, and beautifully damped.
Steering feel is a bit lacking, but very precise. Virtually no slack and well weighted. If anything, it's too fluent and smooth.
The standard seats are comfortable and ergonomic, but not special enough considering the price of the SLS.
SLS will be a great buy when they get to 80k or so ...
