Drove the new E350 CDI Coupe

Hi

Spoke to dealer yesterday - service manager says they have just received the new software update and is sure that it is the 'major fix' expected. :bannana:
Car is due for service in 3 weeks so will apply it then - as well as comand update etc.

Regards

SH

Sounds good - could you tell us who your dealer is for information!

Is the fix called something in particular? I want to book mine in (MB Sheffield) but would like to know what to ask for so they don't waste time trying to diagnose it.

It is simply the ECU update software. It has just been released on the system (or so i`m told). He gave me a technical explanation of the problem saying that the injectors could not reset to zero position or something and was sure that this would sort out the noisy engine.

I have been getting my secretary to chase up Mercedes Customer Services and the dealer for a few weeks now and was at the point of rejecting the car if the update had not appeared by the end of this month.

As it is due first service on 1st September, will get done at same time. Hopefully someone else may get it done sooner and feedback.

It is Mercedes Edinburgh that i am dealing with.

I have a C350CDI (March 2010) it is a bit noisier than I expected at low speeds. Does it have the same issues that the E class has as referred to in this thread. I did take it back to the dealer in May to complain and they said that they can't find anything wrong with it but that dosen't mean tha there isn't something wrong with it and I should just see how I get on. Maybe they were aware that an update was required but that there was nothing they could do for now.

Hi there Gents, I've been following this thread for a while now & its finally good to hear that there might be a perm fix for the problem i hope!!! I was just wondering though, should cars being built from September onwards avoid these problems as the updates should be done in Germany. The reason i ask is that i pick up my new E350 CDI sports coupe at the end of September as does my dad who is picking up his new E350 CDI sports saloon a few days before me. We spoke to the dealer but he said it shouldnt be an issue. Still concerned though.

Imagine the factory will install the latest during build, but if not I would think they would be done at the dealer as part of the PDI.

I am right there with you on that one. I collect mine on the 23/24th of September. I hope all is sorted by this time. When are you going?

The car arrives in Scotland on the 22nd of Sept then im going to be picking it up on the 28th hopefully. It would of been sooner but going to get the windows tinted & get some paint protection film applied before i pick it up. I wish it would hurry up, ha ha.

Anyone else have confirmation of the software update from their dealer!

I drove my mates E350CDI Coupe the other day and frankly I didn't like it.

Pros
The engine/transmission were excellent. Very smooth and powerful. Good looks

Cons
It's just too small. Calling this car an E Coupe is imho taking the p*** ! We had 4 adults squeezed in for 1.5 hr journey and everyone was glad to get out. I found the sports seats uncomfortabe and despite multiple adjustments could not improve the situation. I am used to much longer journeys in my old E and never feel a moments discomfort.

In my honest opinion this car is too much of a style over substance sacrifice. Maybe if you only ever have 2 people in the car and you're of a smaller build then it could work for you. (I'm 6ft tall and 15.5 stones)

Not really had that problem with mine in fact everyone who has been in it thinks it's really comfortable in the back. Definitely more room than my previous BMW E92 & E93 models

They are either small or telling you what you want to hear ! Or maybe you have your front seats pulled forward.

E92/93 - 3 Series BMW I think ? Says it all really. The E Coupe is really a C Coupe

Either way we will be taking my car the next time we go on such a trip.

Had the same response from mine - no final fix yet!

I wonder what MB Edinburgh are on about!!!!
Or is this major fix just vaporware!!!

Is there a case for us all to reject our cars as it could be argued they were mis-sold as both the demonstator when ordering and my own car when new did not exhibit the noisy engine.

Any one got any news on this fix yet?

Hi

I called MB customer services and they says they have checked with MB technical and MB Edinburgh and they are insisting this update will resolve what she described as the 'injector noise'.

WHo knows - car goes in next week and i will update when i get it back.

Just goes to show we are all different. I drove the e-class convertable sport and found the seats very confortable on the hour and half test drive I did. I'm 6'2" and 18.5 stone, I spend a lot of time in the gym... So I am not what you would call small. I had to play around with the seat adjusters but found it quite easy to get them to fit.

It's not the biggest interior... But on a par with the A5 cab and bm 3 series. I have 2 kids, a 3.5 year old and a baby. Both their seats fit in the back.

As for gorwn ups being in the back, not really a concern as it wont be me sat in there :-) But I do have a big family car so it is unlikely that more them myself, or me and the wife will be in the car.
