I ordered new and it was a factory build so dealer told me when it would be built. It was also on the order paperwork IIRC. I'm sure your dealer could tell you.

UPDATE RE SOFTWARE FIX

Had software update last week - car is much quieter - although not quite as quiet as the first 2-3k miles in the car. Cold starts much less rattly.
Feels as if there is more urgency when accelerating and fuel economy has improved.

It feels as it did for a short time after injector reset - hopefully this time the fix is permanent.

So all in all a positive result.......so far

ON a side note - whilst in for servicing the fan blower motor (as part of a/c climiate control) was replaced as it was creaking at low fan speeds. Thats now sorted but now very loud at higher fan speeds and loud vibration at max fans speed - going in again next week to get this fixed!!!

I am thinking that this is not ipod video and just the AUX (composite feed) IN cable that is 1 of the 3 cables in the set due to it stating "various video sources".

Purchased the lead from Mercedes today and the appropriate Apple one. Pleased to report that I can now play music and watch video from my iPhone 4. Added bonus is that I can also charge the phone as the Apple lead has an additional connection:bannana:

Pamrit any chance of taking a pic of the cable? Is it similar to the one I made that uses the aux cable?
Also what price was the cable and do you control it all via the comand panel?

It is similar to one in your photo with three phono connectors and single jack which connects to auxiliary media connector. The cable costs £44.65 inc VAT and like you I could not believe that it would be any different from off the shelf video leads which have exactly the same connections. I tried a number of leads, but none gave me a picture when connected to my iPhone, only one gave a fuzzy picture but no sound. I took a gamble today and bought the Mercedes one which worked straight away with an excellent quality picture and sound - I have just had Avatar playing in wide-screen and feels like surround sound. Under video on COMAND I now get the options of DVD and AUX with settings for Auxiliary connection i.e Colour, Sound, Contrast. wide screen, 16-9 and normal.

I am not sure what is different with the Mercedes lead, but it is the only that works for me, could explain why it is £44.65. By the way I am not sure if it makes any difference, but I do have the latest COMAND software update on my car

I use the Apple composite lead to connect to the iPhone. I am going wire it up so I can connect in the armrest, lot easier then playing around in the glovebox

Sounds like you are using the AUX in function for the ipod video. I tried this as a last attempt and also to see if I could wire up a slim ps2 to the screen but couldnt choose AUX in after I had made the cable. I too have had a software update since so will try this again tomorrow but I would prefer a single lead straight to the ipod's dock connector for both audio and video and also to have functionality of song/video selection from comand.

Hi all, I have followed this thread with great interest having ordered the E350 coupe sport a few months ago, with delivery now imminent (next week!).

-Pamrit, has this update that was applied to your car been confirmed as the fix for the problem?

Also, can anyone confirm whether cars coming off the production line now will have the required software updates applied and/ or will the dealer automatically apply all updates before delivering the vehicle?

I've not spoken to the dealer yet -I'm leasing the vehicle so I've only had exposure to the broker, having test driven the model in a local (West Mids) showroom.

Thanks in advance for any help -and following advice on here I'll speak to the dealer/ broker, and in turn will post any information I get from them back on here

Regarding the noise issues, I got an email from my dealer saying they just heard from mercedes that "they will update the s/w, and rewrite the injector classification codes, and that this should be a long term resolution."

Booked in for monday....fingers crossed!

Mercedes Canterbury updated my injector codes months ago - the car's just as noisy when cold and on sudden wide throttle openings as ever...

According to the SM, this is a technical information document from mercedes, which he received yesterday.This is the first time merc have ever claimed the fix "should" be permanent. Previous fixes were temporary work arounds. I will try to get the update reference.

I will let you know how it goes.

Car went in, mercedes programmer keeps locking up, so I have an E250 CGI estate to sleep in, sorry, play with. My God, it's huge!

Hopefully get car tomorrow or wednesday morning.

This is really frustrating. It's hard to know when these SM's are bull****ting or not.

Call Mercedes Peterborough and ask for Simon, see what he says.

After the update, there was still some light pinking, but that has got better in the last 2 days. It is now running the best ever. The nasty injector rattle that was there originally is completely absent. The SM is calling me every 2 weeks for updates.

Time will tell, I will keep you updated.

I will call my dealer (MB Sheffield) on Monday and get him to check if there are any new updates for my car. Last time I called he said there was nothing but the temporary fix. Mine is getting worse and MPG around town has nose-dived so might get that done if no new fix.

He's raised another tech note for me back to MB to enquire.
