We are having a tidy out at the moment and I rediscovered some fan mail about the first R2, my modified W202. The guys in Dumfries and Galloway loved R2 so much that they sent me a photo of me in action. :o

Nope, they saw his car and were so impressed they took a couple of pictures...  :o ;)

are you saying they caught you speeding ?

Nope, it was a special service they ran for a while up there. A panel of selected members of the public staffed a camera van and when they saw cars that at least 70% of the panel liked, they would take a picture and send it to the registered keeper.

It didn't really catch on because everyone thought that asking for a "Donation" of £60 for the lovely photos was a bit excessive.

And it got a bit complicated when they ran a prize draw every month, whereby the person with the most "Points" could come and meet the local Magistrates...

Love it!:D

so when they voted your car as best did they offer the pictures to you in wallet sized and a4 sized and a framed option

they had a similar scheme running in north london

if you were in a lane with special writing on it (only saw this in my rear view mirror as "SUB" then i too got a photo but being london it was more expensive

i must have come 2nd as i did not geet to meet mr beak & his friends

LOL. It seems to me this service is being offered everywhere even if we dont want it :(

Some of the more ....erm.... outspoken of my group wonder how you folks allow those over there. We have them for people going through red lights in intersections, and they draw more than enough castigation.

Lovely snaps, though. Pity they're not framed worth a poop.
