E class 2006 77k £6950

Yeah but to be fair Steve, your car was a pig.

I have never seen anyone else other than one person have issues like you had.
I know you have found a few, but you obviously went looking when you had issues.

So don't buy a pre facelift as it could have a certain radiator and SBC brakes, and don't buy a facelift as it has the V6 engine.

I am sure there are some out there with issues, however, they made 1,500,000 cars and considering that I reckon we here of very few issues.

But that was not the point, I was just pointing out a pre facelift fro £7,000 is not 'too good to be true' as some have said, that is just the price they are going for these days.

I had a pre facelift 220 which was a joy. Rads are easily changed and it wouldn't put me off one.

An early edition of a new engine isn't a good bet and myself, wobbly and Crockers all had major issues with early V6CDi

Ahhhh price! So folks .. Should I be looking at £3500 - £3750 do you think?

This really is the best car I can see listed on autotrader and ebay!

I would be interested in that car, but not at £3750, and to be honest not at any more than £3k.
I have been looking at them for weeks and there have been some stunners changing hands for under £3k.

I looked at an absolute minter, with a dealer, Silver with like new black leather 7 seater, 97k on it, 51 plate, full MB history, and all the rust was sorted by MB in 2010 with a full respray. It was up for £2850 and he said he would take £2600 for it.

The last 3 weeks or so have seen less advertised, just the ones that have been sat there for ages which are, imho over priced.
S211's are now in the £4000-5000 region, now, this may not be a better car, but for many they appeal more.

I think you need to be realistic and price it at the minimum you would let it go for, if you would not let it go below £3250, don't put it up at £3750, at this end of the market I don't think people expect £5-750 off the sticker price, if I saw it at £3750 I wouldn't even consider making contact.

I wanted £2700 for my 51 plate C220cdi estate, but thought being realistic £2450 would be a much better price point, and then thought what would be the absolute bottom dollar I would take for it, which is £2k.
So I put this advert up, and I have 4 people wanting to come and see it and another 3 working out when they may be able to come and see it.

Maybe I am wrong, but as S210 buyer, I stop looking at all the cars once they get over £3k, well, I will look up to £3500 but with the intention of getting the price down to what I think they are worth.

Having said that, whack you advert up with photos and maybe I will be beating your door down with £3750!! ;)

I have to agree, when it comes to an early S211 I would prefer an W220cdi myself.
They do seem bullet proof and sure it would last years and years.

Won't hijack the thread!!!!!

Will re write the ad properly tomorrow.

Wonder if I should have spent £330 on the front tyres or bought budget tyres?

I'd have thought that would be on the major check list looking at a car????? No???

Surely things like decent premium tyres are expected on a Merc?
Seeing cheapy tyres would make me think maybe other areas have been scrimped on, so think you have done the right thing.

Problem with older cars is you have to spend too much on them really, you spend far more on a £3k car than you would on a new £40k car, doesn't really make sense, but you have to and can't regret getting things done.

I bought my C Class and spent £1400 on it in the last 6 months getting it sorted, now I want to sell it that is £1400 down the drain, I can't ask anyone to pay more because I have spent that, that is just maintainance not enhancement.

I love the E320. A dream. Never had a problem. Really nice pick up and power delivery. Effortless motorway driving.
