Well, having been looking at a C class saloon I have blown the budget and ordered a new E class Coupe with an auto box; went for a test drive and was really impressed with the car albeit the test car was a 350 diesel. Mid life crisis in full flow!!

Should be here in September.

Congrats, i don't think you'll have any regrets.:thumb:

What's the spec?

tell us what spec you went for, and whether you got a good deal

Nice choice dude :)

gotta love how auto express show a sport model in an article about an se :)

Congratulations - Please post pics and lets us know what you think - I am thinking of going down the same mid-life crisis route myself - it seems as if MB have finally got there act together on this one.

Including the paint protection pack and a boot liner £31,300 OTR; the car is at the factory and this helps because the Lexus goes back in just over a month.

I spent weeks mulling over a 3 series coupe and the A5 - couldn't decide on either then went for the test drive and the Merc ticked all (or most) of the boxes, decided straight away!!

paint protection is waste of money ..

but seems cheap at £31,300 .. what sort of discount was that?

E class coupe is another higher more stylish league.

3 series is due for replacement, and A5 has that nasty Audi gaping mouth, even if the side profile is quite nice.

List OTR is £32,345 excluding paint protection and boot liner, so £1k off .. about 3%

It is about £1,300 off - a few calls to other dealers prior to the drive revealed none or token discounts; had to push hard to get this. My budget was £30k but for this I bid £31,000 and could have walked but there was a car available for September and extending my Lexus lease would have cost £900 + a service + two new tyres. Plus when you are there and it is staring at you.......bit like being a kid in a toy shop! Salesman was very helpful and cut the BS.

Agree on the A5 and BMW - but why is the paint a waste of money? Never had it before so no experience.

Thanks,

Got any tips on how to break the budget news to She Who Must Be Obeyed?

Tell her it was a bargain and even she would have been sold on it.

If she can drive tell her she can borrow it to show off to her friends.:thumb:

congrats on the new car man. it's a great choice. i've been in to one as a passenger only but felt really good :)

Also like how they say it comes with the 7Gtronic box whereas Mercedes only offer the 5 speed with the E250CDI.
