E Class Convertible - What's it like living with one?

The V6 is smooth and torquey with a good turn of speed. I tested an E220 which was dreadful. Rough and gutless 4 pot.
Only on Mercedes forum would 180bhp be considered gutless and rough. 🤓

Went from a CLK 280 Petrol to an E 400 petrol both cabrios, the E is better in every way, more powerful, more economic, more modern by a mile, possibly only negative the CLK was vv comfortable on the road.
Just seen this I’ll like to add many moons ago when I was 26 one of my best friends was driving a CLK 280 and his mum had the CLK 320 the 280 was more powerful but returned him around 19mpg. Dreadful on fuel (if you compare now AMGS can get that) but looked so good had better exhaust tips than the 320 I never knew why Mercedes did that (had the 280 more powerful than the 320 and even had it looking better), it was a brilliant car though had the push start button ontop of the gear selector the dash was semi digital was really ahead of my CLC at the time, still got a soft spot them.
the E400 must be a lovely upgrade I personally don’t like cabriolets but the CLK280 almost turned me

I'll get some pictures up at some point when I get in the right scenery. It's a lovely car and good on fuel with great performance. It could do with a rear camera and DAB radio as my wife is used to those features.

Forget to mention that we bought this back in January when it was -8 that morning. Great fun with the roof down with heated seats on full and air scarf on

The rear camera is a great help as rear visibility with the roof up isn't great. DAB I also use most of the time.

Thought I'd update this for anyone who cares. Had a clean MOT pass this week and it's been an incredible car to drive. It's had a few good runs and although I've not checked the mpg yet, the fuel gauge hardly moves. It was a concern that it'd sound like a John Deere tractor with the roof down but it's been no problem at all. Just clicked over 80k miles.

I might look into the DAB and reverse camera but if adds to a silly amount then no biggie as I've got 3 mirrors and an adjustable neck to overcome that.

All in all, it's been great motoring

Comand On Line in Light water (J3 of the M3- so relatively local?) can advise on the DAB and camera.

But it won't be 'cheap', no.

Did I miss the thread with photos and which model you ended up getting....?

I owned one of these .And it was fantastic ..any convertible is View attachment 155222
A bit late to the party, but an Austin A40 Sport? Lovely

I agree, any convertible is good fun, my list is -
Morris 8 tourer (1937, given to me at age 17)
Frogeye Sprite (at age 19)
Saab 93 vert (in my 60s)
Volvo C70 (in my 70s)
JZR 3 wheeler - not really ‘vert, as it has no weather equipment whatsoever (built it in 1998, still have it)

Apologies for mini hijack of thread.

With the air scarf on, and the rear headrests/net raised there is a blind spot for right hand drive cars pulling in on the French autoroutes., as I usually wait until I see the vehicle I’ve overtaken in the rear view before pulling in. Very minor issue though.

3k miles of top down driving around Normandy, and down the Atlantic coast. Didn’t miss a beat. Lovely.

A few months late to the party with some pictures. I managed to remember to take a few while waiting what seemed like hours when the wife went shopping for a few things 😇

Better late than never? ......

It's been a real joy to own and I'm really impressed with the mpg. Quick, nice place to be sat in with the roof up or down and surprisingly quiet for a derv even with the roof down. Yeah, you can hear it but once warmed up it's good. Really surprised with the all round package. Sailed through it's MOT a few months ago. Will get a service done before the new year so it's all up to date.

I was worried it would be like a CLK Cab with wind noise with the roof down but no, this is so different. Motorway speeds and the cabin is fine.

Great cars. My sister still has hers despite it not being ULEZ.
