F13 M6.....for now
I am in the process of changing cars, and options are another C saloon, or something different.

As I will be going 350CDI in the next car I looked at the various PCP deals.

Seems I won't get much of a discount on a C350CDI as they are rare in the surplus stock list, and in fact can get an E350CDI coupe for similar money.

I have a E350CDI cab test drive booked for next weekend (no coupe demo car) to get a general feel.

Question is, I sat in the rear of a pano roofed E coupe and couldn't really as my head was tilted forward due to the roof lining (seems the pano has a bulge right where you don't want it). But what about the non pano, is it suitable for 6 foot adults in the back? or does the sloping roof line make it a kids only zone?

This and general comments from E coupe owners would be appreciated.

Thanks!

E350CDI sport saloon must be the way to go?

Nice looking car. I actually think it looks a more balanced design than the coupe or the Estate.

In the C class the Estate is a better balance than either the coupe or the saloon.

I looked at these last year great car and practical but the build quality lets it down massively see the other threads on here about rattles and poor build.

Thanks Red C220, you see I think there is something not quite right with the E saloon....from a balanced looks perspective. For me the coupe just about gets away with the balanced looks and the power ranger rear :D

I really like the C coupe, but sadly no 350CDI option.

Oh, right....not seen those issues. Thanks for the heads up. Teething issues...or fundamental design flaws?

You say it is practical? Does that mean usable rear seats?

They sure are...

So no E coupe owners on tonight?

It's not so much will you fit, but the ball ache of getting in and out with a coupe.

If you're going to have more than one passenger with any regularity then you really need to go four door.

It really gets you when you go and collect your parents (in their mid 70') and have to convince one of them to squeeze into the back.

If rear seat passengers are a real issue it has to be a saloon.

It isn't that I carry adult rear passengers often, just embarassing when you do if they can't fit. Especially as the E coupe looks a 'big' car from the outside.

I understand the getting in out bit.

My mate has the BM 320 coupe and that isn't bad in the back despite looking smaller than the E. It has a sensible roof line though.

I have a coupe and am 6'3". I have sat in the back to Manchester from London. It was bearable.

Have been told I can't have a CLS (company) as next car so am now getting a coupe cabriolet (have one 10 days) to try.

Current car is diamond white with pano roof and red interior. Replacement will be black, black roof, almond beige interior.

If you pony up in a Coupe (of any sort) then 6 footers know that the rear seat is going to be a chore. Ladies & gents in their 70's are not going to like it either.

If you're buying a car for yourself then go for the Coupe - C or E depending on your preference. If you've got too many 'considerations' to accommodate then go for an S4.

A coupe is never going to be all things to all men. My E Cabriolet is really impractical for more than two people or just about two adults and 2 small children, but I knew that when I bought it.
As is often said "the E saloon is probably all the car you will ever need", but the Cab is more fun. I guess the coupe is much the same but I wouldn't buy the coupe when open topped motoring is available with the Cab, seems too much of a compromise to me

I am thinking the Coupe and Cab are different in the back in any case...the drawing shows that the cab has less leg room, but more head room. Seems like the rear seats are a little further forward on the Cab.

I bought an E250 cdi coupe earlier thsi year. My previous car was a C estate which was very good except that so many people complained to me about the difficulty of exiting the rear seats as the space for legs is quite tight between the door and the door cill; if MB had corrected the design of the rear doors than I would have considered another C Estate. I was keen on the design of a coupe and looked at the C coupe but getting passengers into and out of the rear seats is not easy at all. The E coupe has good legroom in the rear but its big plus and what swung it for me is the fact that there is no B pillar and the glass drops right away leaving and easy exit from the rear' pasengers can help themselves out by allowing their hands and arms to pass through where the B pillar might otherwise restrict them. Headroom is also fine (without the pano roof). There are only 2 seats in the rear but these are very good (almost as good as the front seats). So far I have found no problems for passengers plus the boot is also a good size.

Thanks Survey, very relevant post.....I have a C saloon, and suffer the same issue.

Glad to hear you feel the E coupe is an improvement. Sorry for sounding a little dumb, but how do you get the windows to drop? I take it you lower them like on any car, or is there a auto window drop setting to allow easier access?

Have you had any issues with the car...I'm told to be aware of issues, but can't find any threads on here mentioning E Coupe problems.

By pressing and holding down the unlock button close to the driver's door handle all side windows drop out of sight. Press and hold when finished and all windows go up. Very useful feature.
So far, 6 months in, no problems at all. The car is certainly a head-turner; look in the rear view mirror and you can check out that people look. Mine is calcite white with red flamenco leather - something completely different to my usual choice of car. The 250 cdi engine is a peach - power aplenty! If you need any more help, you can PM me.
