E270 CDI W211 Vibration 1100rpm

Guys

As per title my E270 CDI seems to have a metallic feeling resonant vibration at approx 1100rpm. Almost feels like the SBC pump when it powers up but is definately not from this source.

Has anyone else noticed a resonant vibration similar to mine?

Can be replicated stationary but is quite noticable around town as the gearbox seems to hold the engine at this rev point quite often.

Can be felt through the steering wheel quite distinctly.

Hope anyone can help.

Thanks in advance

Adrian

If your car is an auto built before September 2003, it is possible that it is suffering from the Valeo radiator problem. This manifests itself as coolant in the transmission fluid. The symptoms are just as you describe.

This should not be the valeo problem as it is the torque converter that makes the humming /droning at 1k-2k rpm when pulling lightly.

There are some mods I do believe, but sadly I do not have the time today to check on them

Thanks guys, just to confirm this can't be a gearbox problem as my car is a September 2004 build with Behr radiator, the vibration can be replicated when stationary and gearbox in park by holding the engine at approx 1080rpm.

It does come through the steering wheel and feels like a metallic resonance (really hard to describe I know!)

Cheers

PM me or ask again on Monday, ideally I would like the first 6 numbers after WDB

It might be worth looking at the engine and gearbox mounts in case they're on their way out. Mind you given the age of the car that should be very unlikely.

W211 Vibration

I have a e320 cdi, I had a small vibration at 6000revs,
Then i had electrics diagnostics done because the rear light was not working, the tech reset the whole electrical system, He also checked my engine mounts which are ok,
Now the car vibrates when not warmend up, once warmed up there is no vibration at 6000revs, no shaking on the stearing wheel,
drives silk smooth.

6000rpm!! Are you sure? The 320 shouldnt rev that high!

W211 vibration

Hi kwakdonut

Hi when my car is idle ot revs at 600 revs, if i am right just under the 100on the rev counter
there you will feel the vibration, once it is warm the vibration reduces,

I will check the air inlet hose pipe today and see if ther is any leak.

Thanks
