E300TD Engine oil

I've just bought an E300TD and I noticed its been run on Mobil 1. 0-40, I've always run my 124s with the same engine on 10-40 semi .

Is there any reason to keep this up as it seem s a bit OTT for an old engine design like the 606
(its only£19.99 for 4ltr in Costco though)

Nothing old about the design of a 24v turbodiesel engine. If it was me i would stay with the Mobil 1. I have 290000 miles on mine with Mobil 1.
Although if pennies are tight a good fully synthetic diesel engine oil will do.
Renewing the oil is the price of a fill of diesel.
