its the hose that goes to Map sensor.

I have a similar fault with my ML280CDI.

It could be fuel starvation. Have you replaced the fuel filter?

The fuel filter was changed roughly 4k ago but i dont see how that could be as i am only getting like 22-23 mpg around town

In that case have you checked the injector return lines? They are clipped on to the injector with little plastic nipple connections. There is a small O ring on the injector that can fail causing fuel to leak. The leakage can also cause engine fueling problems, especially as you have high fuel consumption.

It has been a while since i wrote on here but i have been very busy with work and didn't have any time to look for a solution for my car. So a quick update on my problem, i had the car today pressure tested and it turns out that there is a boost leak in the egr valve, so next will be to get hold of an egr valve replace it and hopefully sort out the problem, i will update as soon as i replace it

Does anyone know if the egr valve is same for e280 cdi and 320 cdi as i was thinking of buying a used one first and see if it cures the problem before i shell out 400 for a new one from MB Dealer

Well well, i have replaced the egr twice now and yet the problem is still there, it has gotten worse really as the car is in limp mode more often than not, when starting from cold its in limp mode, as soon as it reaches the required temperature if i switch it of and on again it starts working but not for long, this car is giving me some serious head scratching of what it could be, never in my life did i have a weirder car

have you checked the turbo actuator???

EGR replacements - were they new or used units? If new then assuming genuine MB ones?

If used then they could possibly be faulty / not functioning as intended?

Also, did you get fault codes cleared (if any) after getting the EGR replaced

They were used egr, the first one was bought off ebay and returned as it made no difference, the second one was taken of a relatives car (it took some persuading) who has a fully functioning car and there were no codes to clear

It's seem to be a maze with your car unfortunately.

The basic checklists for limp mode issues would be:
- MAF sensors (×2 in the V6 CDI)
- Air filters (service computer needs to be reset when new air filters are put in)
- Fuel filter - there could be some dirt / foreign object causing a fuelling issue

Plus:

With regards to checking Live Data on STAR, the key things to check are:
- Injectors
- Turbo actuator
- Inlet Port Shut Off motors
- EGR Valve
- MAF sensors etc...
They should be operating in the green zone as a minimum.

Cannot think of anything else tbh
