E320 Convertable value

I'd agree with posts saying do some of the cosmetic work on the bumpers as that will ease the sale. A garage local to me has 3 on the forecourt at the mo and they have been there a while a 94m 320 in silver, a 96n 320 and a 97r 220 in green priced at 13k, 10k and 8k respectively. All are under 100k or only just over that milestone but I wonder as they have been there for some time, all summer if my memory serves me well does that mean they are over priced or the demand for the car is lower than some might assume?

Normally it is best to sell a convertible for the summer season so if you can hold off until feb/march then you may get the best price.

Tis a pity you have to part company

r u talking about the garage with the silver 320 sportline with AMG alloys?

all these cars are tough to move, as the mileage is high, and whilst many do not agree with me, the market is very strong for the lower mileaged cherished versions.. ie mine lol.. not being biased, but thats just how the market is..

I really think your bournite cabrio is highly demanded, at the right price, and pushing to the £9-£10k mark is not gonna be tough.

The silver one mentioned above has had 4 owners from what i recall and looks like its been resprayed. I went to see it earlier in the year..

and also the fact yours has full service history is a big bonus..

i say address the cosmetics and wait out till feb/march...

make a video, drive it around and give a fully transparent appraisal..

show your touring pics as these give confidence.

One thing i would say is address the wheels.. i think they look curbed, and if so, then a guy local to me charges about 30-40 quid for each wheel when he redid my e350 wheels about a year ago and recently the wheels on my S.

Yep that's the one about 15 minutes from my front door, I think the E220 in green looks the best personally speaking

please define a 'strong market' and in the same sentence tell us how long yours has been advertised for :)

I think the £8k price mentioned in this thread is realistic and priced to sell

Its a bog standard bike rack and I've even had my tandem on the back minus the wheels. For winter skiing I put a sport wooden slatted - the ones with the rubber suckers like for small sports cars - then the ski's sit accross it - simple. But the wife want more boot space!

I misinterpreted the front seat wear issue - the bolster is perfect, its the seat as you enter and exit that wears and its worn through the leather at this point. I would be greatful for the number of the wheel refurshment place so i can have the wheels done. Maybe when its all done she'll change her mind...!

I would agree. There are too many "inflated" cars for sale around...and they just keep on appearing.

For example, I got rid of my CL in 4 weeks of advertising which is a great result for something that niche. There are cars STILL for sale that were for sale when I bought my first CL back in February 2008 and still on the market now, a month after the CL was sold.

So, if the car is in the condition you describe and you price is sensibly (ie - not like those who grace the pages of Mercedes Enthusiast!) it will be gone in a shot.

As for values, whether it has been valued by an MB club member; that is insured for £X; that Jonny Jones got £Y for his or the old "it is a future classic" - that is just pie in the sky talk - a car is worth exactly what the person standing in front of you with the open wallet is offering to sign the V5.

Good luck with the sale - love the colour

My Bike v E320 Mercedes Sportline Convertible

YouTube - Chatox cycle home - keeping up with Mercedes E320

I just found this and couldn't resist. In fact this couold be a sales pitch ad to demonstrate that my wife - who uses this car as a community nurse in Kent (another reason to have to sell 'cos she says its embarrassing to pull up to houses in it!!), never drives it more than 50 kph. We'd just had a great lunch in the Alps last summer where we have a chalet and were heading back. I was on my bike and stopped with my camera phone to grab a little bit of vid. When I got back on the the bike it was a fairly fast bit of 'sound of music' road so I had a dig and manged to catch her up. Boys will be boys. She wasn't impressed...

Surely the better option is to buy a wee runabout for community nursing purposes and keep the car as chasing a ford focus through Switzerland is not quite as appealing.

I've got to get you to talk to her!:thumb: The plan is part that - she gets a more reasonable runabout for the job and I'm then supposed to purchase a more 'suitable' car for the French excursions...

Ok chaps - heads up - its Spring and as promised my 1993 E320 Sportline Convertible in Bornite is now up for sale. I've had the bumper scuffs attended too. Since the last posting in November we've added mileage with another 2 trips to the Alps and Wendy has continued to use her for her job as a community nurse her in Kent. We are now on 145,000m. Just had a complete Mercedes service as we always do - book fully stamped. Next service is due at 152,000 She actually seems to drive better than when I bought her 4 years ago. I'm going to take some pics and post but wanted to give some fore warning. As I've said all along - I'm a realist and the car has to go. The asking price will be £8,500 but open to offers. I've not put it up anywhere yet but plan to do so over the Easter weekend. If anyone would like to come and take a look and a test drive please call me Paul - 07971 915316. We are in Wilmington Kent nr Dartford about 5mins from Junc 2 or 3 of M25. Off to give her a clean to take some pics... bugger...

dont do it !!!!!! tell the misses you want a divorce and you're leaving and going to live in the car

Well here she is... will put up elsewhere over the weekend....

I've really loved driving this car , without doubt the best I've owned... MOT'd, taxed to end of year, new tyres, just serviced. I'm not bothering with all the speel. Just call and come see ..07971 915316 Paul - gutted..:wallbash:

Any advice on the best places to advertise the old girl ?:dk:

Pistonheads is a good start, free as well for Private sellers :)

Could then try Autotrader. eBay gets a good audience but the ratio of genuine buyers:timewasters is about as bad as it gets!

Apart from the recent bad weather, it's a good time of year to be selling a car IMHO - you should do okay, it looks like a genuine, honest car and has a good service record.

Will

Realise that you are about to sell that rarest of models of car. One that if in good nick, and well looked after, may well be worth equal or more next year than it is today! And since your greatest running cost on any car is depreciation????????/

That's a good advert, and as already said it looks/sounds like a nice car - I predict that it will sell pretty quickly, and for close to your asking price :)

Will

I'm with banditdave on this, p45 for the wife and keep the 124. Lovely motor wish i was in a position to buy but then the wife would give me a p45.
