Nice spec but and love the colour.Them seats look well used though, let us know how you get on

i love my old coupe and have spent more fettling it up than its worth [financial stupidty i know] but the alternative is to watch it slowly deteriorate and end up at the breakers far sooner than it might.
in 2 years of ownership over and above normal service items i have replaced

2 front springs
centre exhaust box
steering cross shaft
steering damper [thanks Ian Walker ]

duo valve [ thanks druk -Derek-]

cylinder head gasket [ thanks SPR autos stockport ]

2 front wings and partial respray n bake [all plastic panels were removed and refitted ] [ thanks J D Motor bodies Stockport ]

front screen [ thanks National Windscreens ]

4 wheel alignment [ thanks Sheffield car clinic }

I'm getting there :D
only the air-con compressor and rear screen to go
on the plus side the car looks and drives very well :bannana: and no advisorys last 2 mot's

I spotted the driver's seat. Passenger seat looks a little tired, too.

We'll see........

the seller is a smart cookie who can put a good ad together, doesnt mean its a bad car but he highlights the good points very well and glosses over the not so good. as already stated the mileage is high even for a 124 [ 50,000 more than mine ] and the front seats are probably worse than the [ limited view ] pictures reveal.
check the wings havnt been sprayed over the rust
check the engine hasnt had a recent steam clean to hide the failed chg
how much of the rear screen heater still works
jacking points ?
gearbox changes ? oil pressure ??
I'm sure you are familiar with the model, just leave the rosie tints at home when you view, good luck and be prepared to dig deep to put right the reasons why its for sale. ;)

The CHG and the loom are surely on their way out. If they had been changed he would have mentioned them. Nice colour but as others say do be critical if you go to view

high miles

Mercedes Cozy - How do I get in touch with you on your fix for the central locking pump (PSE) on a W140? I bought a 500SEL last month and I just experienced my first problem with the pump. #11 fuse is blown and pump is down.

What's all that about, then??

Don`t have a clue mate :dk: Some new member, and done the same on another thread:ban:

I posed some more questions of the seller, who responded thus:

" Its had a total of 7 previous owners.

I have no idea whether either the head gasket or wiring loom has been replaced and there's no evidence of either of these within the pile of receipts I have.

The lower part of the heated rear screen doesn't work due to de-lamination - approx the lower 6 inches or so.

Absolutely no rust around the jacking points and no signs of any welding etc either.

The previous owner told me that the car has had some paintwork but its obviously been carried out to a high standard. I usually sell sports cars (mainly Mazda MX5 and the occasional Porsche) and I'm pretty good at spotting paintwork repairs but this looks very good indeed. "

Interestingly, he's already dropped the price on PH by £200 and the car appeared on E-bay this week, starting price £600 with no reserve!!!!

Hello folks, I'm the guy actually selling this car.
I've got to say its slightly weird reading your posts trying to work out why I'm selling and there seems to be much adding of 2 and 2 to make 5.
I'm not going to turn this into an advert.
I specialise in Mazda MX5s, had the chance to get my hands on this and simply liked the look of it. So I bought on a whim really. I know little about these cars, other than I used to sell Mercedes back in the 90's though by then we were selling the later E class.
The reality is that I've slowly realised that its just not going to happen: I already have a Boxster and a BMW 745 as well as at least half a dozen MX5s that I can use so buying this was one of my less brilliant ideas.
I'm not desperate for the money but boy, does it take up some space.
Thats why its for sale - no hidden agendas and no nasty problems to hide. I've had lots of questions and a couple of semi serious offers but no buyers yet though I'm sure it will go. It doesn't owe me that much money, hence the price drop and the listing on Ebay.
And if it doesn't sell, its simply back to plan A and I'll run it after all.
