Hi all I’ve just done a 340mile run all motorway and I’m getting a whiff of hot oil smoke in the cabin, like engine oil on an exhaust or turbo, I’ve had a look but can’t see anything obvious, the power is good and I’m getting 40mpg any ideas. Also the turbo sounds loud, though I am not familiar with this car.

2000 W-210 100k any ideas???

You may have a leaking injector. Take the engine covers off and have a look at them.

It could be an oil leak too, burning on the exhaust?

As above the smell is most likely a leaking injector. With the engine running you can often see smoke coming from under the engine cover.

A loud turbo possibly means (as on my car) that the rubber boot at the bottom of your steering column (where it passes through the firewall) is split. Pack it firmly with fibreglass insulation, or have it replaced.

Its defiantly engine oil, the acrid smell that gets you in the back of the throat! Is the turbo spooling up noise noticeable on this model?
I guess I have a job on for this weekend...

You were right on the money BlackC55, there was a black mess under the cover the foam has completely gone leaving a stinking black shiny mess, cleaning it up the gloop it was a half inch thick in places, also found that acetone will attack this gloop, and your paint job, plastics, forget gloves they just disintegrate… and acetone is very flammable, so use carefully!!!
