Hi all :-)

Wondering what to next...

How often does one need to change the spark plugs (on my E320 petrol S210)... And is it DIYable? :o

Mine are due every 4 years, which I believe is standard across the range. Mine is 4-cyl, and dead easy to do (though i did leave it to Olly in the end). Don't know about DIY for your particular car though - as you probably know on V6 engines it really depends on how many bits you have to remove for access.

Thanks mate. My S210 is a flat 6 (2001)...
hmm... do u have to change the leads as well?

Methinks the OP means the straight-6 in the early S210 E320

Flat... Straight... o dear I'm not doing a very good impression of trying to sound clever...

I can stll remember my class teacher now... '' you're holding the whole class back!!" :(

Ok, what was the question?

Oh yes, "How often does one need to change the spark plugs (on my E320 petrol S210)... And is it DIYable?"

A1 - not often
A2 - yes it is.
You will need - a lot of money because you need 12-off spark plugs NGK PFR5G-11 stock no.2647 and they're over £10 each. Ouch!
You also need to clean around the head before removing the old ones (to stop dirt going down the threaded hole), screw the new ones in by hand (not spanner) to avoid cross threading, and use a good torque wrench to nip up. I've no idea what the torque setting should be but the plug's compression washer takes care of that around 20-ft.lb. (do check!)

er... yup!
must have dreamt about having a straight 6... defo a V6 :o

Thanks very much for the info jefrs... time to start saving for those 12£ plugs then! :bannana:
Nice to see you've got the same car!
this has done 165,000 miles now, and to be honest- i cant find any fault with it; it's lovely. to be honest i actually find the drive and interior more comfortable than my 211 e280 cdi :-(

I can get you 12 plugs (Bosch) for £4.50 each. Just pick them up when your car is in and I can give you some tips on how to do them.
