E320CDI Rust

Moved my thread from "New MB Owner" one in the engine section, to here as Brian WH suggested.

As I mentioned earlier, I am due to take my E320 CDI into the bodyshop near Sheffield for assessment on Monday.

Thanks for the advice glojo, I'll see how amenable the assessor is in assisting me with finding all the problem areas. Hopefully through the good info in this forum I can locate most of the areas.

I'll update the thread after Monday.

Went to MB bodyshop in Sheffield last Monday, and waited 1/2 hr before a young lad came out who was the assessor.

I pointed out all the rust areas to him, but the only he said he would put forward the claim and see what would get done.

I received a phone call on Wednesday and was told that repairs would only be done to the wheel arches, under-bonnet, all 4 doors around the seals and door bottoms and the battery tray under the back seat.

What they wouldn't entertain was the spare-wheel well around the rubber grommets, the slam panel above the radiator, the boot lid, the passenger door, and the bonnet as the assessor claimed they are as a result of impact damage, or the roof as this was impact damage also.

I contested the spare-wheel well, the boot lid and the roof at the time, and will persue these further after gaining some knowledge from these forums. I will try to post the photo's, whether I am successful or not is a different matter.

I'm going back to see them again on Wednesday, to get names etc for MB HQ.

I'll keep my progress posted.
