Can anyone who has driven or been in an E430 comment on their performance, did they feel real quick? I was passenger n a X Type 3 litre saloon with auto box test drive and with foot down it didn't feel great, with quoted 0-60mph time of 7.1 seconds I though tit would feel pretty quick but as disappppointign mostly at high revs there was torque lower down though. If anyone' has been in an E430 id be pleased o hear what you thought, woudl test drive on at mb dealership but according to the website they have none for sale!

My dad has a CLK 430, which i borrowed last week and drove to Cornwall and back, and i can confirm that it is indeed very very quick !!! :D

Ok, its not as fast as a C43 but it sits at 90mph at 2800rpm and still puts your head back into the seat violently when you bury the throttle at 60mph. Quite a few times i had to back off simply because i was travelling so quick and had got there in so little time !!

Plus, you've got that glorious V8 rumble !!! :D (maybe a teeny bit intrusive at times)

Very quick off the mark, the traction control was taking charge on fully dry roads, loads of torque throughout the rev range, not once did it feel gutless.

Bin the Jag idea - 430 is the way to go !!

Thanks so much for that reply, I knew it was worth getting a V8, head into headrest at 60mph when flooring it that sounds like a dream come true! That must of been fun all the way through those country roads once you get down to Cornwall.

Cheers.

:D ;) Dual carriageways in Cornwall are country lanes with grass growing down the middle.

60mph on Cornish lanes equates to one of Shude's or Janners excellent squigged images :D :) Certainly sounds nice.

Autocar tested the E430 and the 0-100 mph time was 15 seconds, I thought the 0-60 time was 6.1 seconds.

I've had an s430, MB book figure for 0-62mph was 6.9 seconds and I timed it at 0-100 in just under 17 seconds, so the above doesn't seem too far off.

As Howard says midrange acceleration is good combination of the kickdown and that creamy linear power, lovely engine and gearbox.
