Anything I can do to make my 2000 E430T a bit nippier without spending much?

SprintBoost will at least make you feel like it's a bit nippier, apparently.

unless you want to spend big £££s then leave it well alone or sell and buy a E55 AMG remaps will get you maybe 15BHP and it really will not be worth it, and fitting cams and manifolds will lose you a load of lower end torque for maybe 20-25bhp at the top of the rev range.

Ive done a bit of research over the last year and the answer is basically no!

I actually dont think they are that fast especially if you are already rolling, pretty quick from a standing start.

As sais e55 is the way to go or look for an e55 engine will drop in and run on the original ecu, google c43 owners doing just that.

That's my "escape plan" if my gearbox blows but I've read both that it's a straight swap and that it's impossible - do you have any further info?

Actually, don't, I'm poor enough as it is.

I'm thinking then that I need to add lightness (if i can paraphrase) so it's bye bye Mrs Flat6buster and bye bye dog and watch me go! Diet starts tomorrow.

On way home at the lights suzuki swift whatever that is versus me:D:D

I think theres a W202 forum sure ive read about it somewhere.

Whenever i look on e bay i always look for e55 engine like rocking horse poo.

There is an E55 lump for sale on ebay at the moment IIRC

Hi,
A 55 lump fitted in a C43 is a direct swap and as the C43/E55 ECU has the same Pt. No. allegedly, it will run perfectly, and I have read other forums where this combination actually improves the performance over the CLK55/E55, but when the 43 ECU is chipped to reflect the 55 engine fitted it actually reduces the peak torque/power quite noticably though I have never seen any rolling road graphs/printouts to prove this.
The 55 gearbox I don,t believe is a straight swap, as they were mainly tiptronic though this can be retro fitted, It would be a nightmare to source the parts, wiring looms ECU etc.
The 55 engine on E-bay I think is a bit expensive if its the one I enquired about, he wants £2495, and he could,nt tell me for sure how many miles it had done, and at that price I would want to know and have all the ancillaries to.
I offered him £1800 cash (outside of e-bay) and I would pick it up, he did,nt reply, so I took as a no.
I was a bit gutted actually I was away on buisness last week and there was a CAT C w210 E55, 1998 on an S plate, 12 months MOT, still very much road worthy, that only went for £2450, and at that price for a complete car I think the guy is dreaming to expect that sort of price for just an engine and not even sure of its mileage.
