Has anyone successfully fitted E500 standard 8" rims on a "normal 124"

Trial fitted them on the front of the coupe today and they don't seem to foul anything. Not much clearance though.
Will try them properly when I get some 215/50 rubber for them as the 225/55 are way too big diameter.

I have an E320 Coupe fitted with 17" 225/40 tyres. When I bought the car it had larger wheels which did foul the arches on corners and going into dips. After looking at a wheel dealers site "alloy wheels direct" they suggested the above sized wheels and tyres would fit and I bought a set of Evo 2 style alloys with the above size. I drive it quite enthusiastically and the only time they have made any noise is when I drove into a dip in the road too quickly. I would check out their website to see if they think the size you want will fit but I do recall they suggest some sizes are only suitable for the E500 with its extended arches. The tyres I bought are Good Year Eagle F1 and grip is fantastic with my belief being that these tyres and wheel size really maximise the already prodigious grip of these cars. I have by the way owned 3 x E320 Coupes and run them on standard wheels as well. Hope that helps.

I have those Evo II alloys on my 320 saloon and been on there for a couple of years now, runs just fine. 225/45/17 are the best size for them all round if your not looking to lower the car too much.
