E55 AMG AVANTGARDE 2001 no reserve

Clearly you do otherwise you would have not pointed out his error :p
He got you back fair and square though!:D lol.

No, as I said, I really don't. But to make a typo/spelling mistake isn't in the same league as posting inaccurate maths to do with buying and selling prices of cars.
One takes concious effort, the other none at all..

HTH. :)

I'm not sure what your on about? was he selling something?

Another thread where there seemed to be some confusion regarding prices... :)

HA HA, just bought one at very reasonable money, could anyone suggest a sensible asking price for a T reg 99 plate Estate with 130,000 ,miles... silver in colour... new too all his, so any advise is appreciated. thanks Andrew

The prices were clear as day in the end though weren't they...

Out of context on here BU, but this is new prices vs. second hand prices from respective dealers:

Top or near top of the range
2.7 HDi V6 Exclusive 4dr Auto Saloon List Price £35,395
£8,394 2nd hand 4 years old

Bottom or near bottom of the range
220 CDI Avantgarde Auto Estate £30,719
£11,923 2nd hand 4 years old

Both with similar mileages.

What is confusing is why anyone would want to throw so much money away...

If I'd have haemorrhaged money on 2 new Citroens previously - I probably would be poo-pooing AMG owners as well.

:D

See, you've done it again...showed you are and unable to compare like to like.

I've emboldened the bits of your post that matter just in case you don't understand.:)

Try using similar cars within the range. i.e. BOTH being 2.2 litre diesels low down in the range, then you will see the result is different.

C6 was ~£28k new, MB ~£30k new, now C6 is worth about £9k, MB about £11k.
Add to that that you would be granted a greater discount on the list price of a C6 and it actually works out as losing less money overall.
In addition you picked a MB estate as they hold value better than saloons and the C6 2.7 loses value due to high RFL.

Hopefully I've made myself clear and as such I'm out of this topic with you. :)

Of course, well now you've said that, I'm sure it will be a completely different outcome comparing exactly the same models wont it.

;)

So, from the new car pricing from Parkers for exactly the same used models being compared, which are similar in within their respective model ranges to each other, rather than picking random 'circa' new car pricing out the air (read carefully wont you!):

E280 CDI Avantgarde 4d Tip Auto Saloon 2007/07 Original Price £35,272
4 years old 47,288 miles £13,142

£22,130 over four years.

2.7 HDi V6 Exclusive 4d Auto Saloon 2007/07 Original Price £38,192
4 years old 69,985 miles £8,394

£29,798 over four years.

"Ah yes but there's a whopping 20k miles difference between them and the choice of colour is not the same and there wasn't a full moon that day and Brucie now has a knighthood and my dog ate my homework yadda yadda"

Getting on for £8,000 down the toilet.

So if I bought the Mercedes 2 contiguous periods of 4 years, instead of buying the equivalent 2 new Citroens, I'd then ony have to stump up a couple of grand to buy the cheapest 2007/07 E63 on Autotrader now, and still not be complaining about others who buy AMGs.
