Morning All,

Any E55s owners have experience of the B service would be good to hear if £507.83 sounds like a good price from an Indy (it's certainly much better than main dealer). Still on the original spark plugs so definitely time for the B service

Will need rear pads replaced at same time and will get the last two creaking balls joints on the front sus done at same time

Anything anyone woudl recommend doing pro-actively whilst it is in as a preventative measure?

Car has had gearbox fluid change, new rear airmatic, new compressor, two new batteries in the last 6 months. Its done 58k miles

The brake fluid should be changed every 2 years, so check your service history.

Price wise... I am not sure because I service my own car.

Coincidentally, my wife has just contacted MB & an indy for a price on a B5 service (45k miles) for her ML. They have quoted £446 and the indy quoted......£530!?!?!
Having looked at whats involved, it would appear to be a run of the mill oil change and lots and lots of checks!
Seems a little on the high side to me, but will contact them myself when I am back from offshore to see what it entails exactly.

I have found regular servicing at my local MB dealer to be far more reasonable than expected. I'd definitely give it a go before committing to the other option.

Good luck!

The main dealer had quoted £900...

All the spark plugs need changing plus a load of other stuff. The Merc dealer quoted it as B service and the Indy agreed but quoted £400 less!

It's basically a oil change with lots of checks, an official stamp and MB history

This is what I have done at home so far, it's a hobby for me:

16x Spark Plugs
Valve covers gaskets + breathers
Multiple oil changes
As I do the drain method, I do my own visual checks
2x Rear struts (not the air bags)
Added distronic
Added easy pack option
Added 2x tree nails
Offside front lower ball joint
Duo valve
2x Air filters
2x Charcoal filters
Cabin filter
Serpentine belt
Supercharger pump (Bosch)
Replaced offside front active cornering headlight
Changed SBC and main batteries
Repaired the bootlid wiring so now the keyless go button locks from the bootlid
Basically service item 13 reset (I leave the other items as I am not 100% sure on them)

Everything replaced/changed/added with OEM parts... I now have a buddy in the parts department who knows me very well :D

I have a huge amount of MB invoices as my history.

Good work! I'm on the original plugs so these defintiely need doing.
