What would cause my W211 E55 enginer to suddenly stop . Engine will turn over but wont fire up . Changed ova crank sensor still wont start .....could it be fuel pump ???? Alps recons they have two but found that the fuel pump under rear seat / sender had power but was not buzzing .

Any thoughts ????

There are two inspection access panels under the rear seat, have you also checked the fuel pump relay.

Savman Yeah the relays are working ......any other suggestions ??
Oppps hang on ....checked relay in boot on n/s and checked the sender which is were I thought the pump was under rear seat behind drivers seat ??

Still not running crank sensor changed but not sure if it needs star ??? apart from that it must be the pump as I can not here its buzzz and its got power

Ok put aux power supply to both fuel pumps and they work ? Crank sensor changed . Still wont fire up ??? Anyone got any other ideas ????

fuel pump reley?

Battery below air con filter (controls alarm/immob etc) had couple non starts crank sensor replaced by indie. mb replaced small battery in engine compartment now ok maybe worth checking

Stop throwing parts at it!

Get it on a Star firstly. Then check fuel pressure.

Waiting on mate to borrow star from his work but my snapon scanner showed up no faults !!!!??? BTW fuel rail was no pressure or fuel pressent yet we pwoered up pumps and both are working and yet their is power to the pumps when turning over yet only work when we directly powered them up . ????:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Are we missing something ??

The rear Sam powers the pumps. The key is the lack of fuel pressure.

Check to see if the feed to the pumps is there when ignition is turned to position two for a few seconds or cranking.

What happens when you bridge the fp relay? Do they power up?

yes we swapped relay off a working car but no start . Power to pumps also ...... could it be a immobiliser issue ?

Get it on a Star. The car doesn't strictly have an immobiliser system.

Am I right in thinking that you can't hear the fp's run?

No you can hear the buzz of the pumps but dont seem to have pressure in the rail .....But I agree Im going to have to get it on star

As Olly says best to get it on a star, I presume you actually have fuel in the tank? and not a faulty sender unit? You can check the fuel pressure on the shrader valve on the fuel rail. Good luck

Yes it did cross my mind if the sender unit was iffy ....so put a gallon in to be sure . But nope no luck . :dk:

I set my self up with a simple obd11 ( or what ever it's called) set up for my iPhone . For £40 you can set your self up with the ability to read the codes at the road side and clear them . One of the most useful gadgets I have purchased in a long time !
