I've been using LED units for a while now.

One has gone so I need to replace.

However, as they get more powerful, they have become out of sync with the xenons and I don't like the imbalance.

The side lights look too bright and too blue.

Is there a more powerful whiter halogen bulb available for these or what do others have in their W211/S211s if not standard?

Bump.

Anyone?

Might have found the answer:

or you could just buy the later, style W5W bulbs from the MB dealer parts counter - they have blue glass but glow white (rather than the yellow glow of older style W5W bulbs).

I have the Blue W5Ws is my C and picked some up for the ML yesterday.

Thanks BD! :thumb:

This thread might be useful for you:

I went with upgraded regular bulbs, as the LEDs seem to be typically quite poor quality wise and often too bright/bluey coloured.

I found you then notice that the foglights (which come on when locking/unlocking) are also a bit on the yellow side - and the sidelights stick out/look aftermarket etc which is not the subtle improvement I wanted.

My recommendation is to fit a set of quality 'upgraded' bulbs and be done with it. They won't be an exact match for the Xenon headlights, but they won't stand out for the wrong reasons either by looking aftermarket and the match should be closer for the fogs too.

I've gone for the same ones as you.

I can't be rsed anymore.

I bought KH's because of the no-CANBUS errors and all the ones I've looked at - there seems to be a comment stating it didn't work in their car with CANBUS.

I'm sure DM posted about this, John. If I recall correctly, he changed something fairly simple in the wiring and the OEM side-lights became far brighter. It looked good. For the life of me I can't find the thread. And can't remember if he had Xenons.

I think as per Will's post - even on the W211 they will still be yellow but not quite so.

I liked the first set of LEDs I bought - perfect white and match for the xenons.

Sadly, the longevity is not quite there.

I use the ebay ones , they are a little blue but they are all the same have had a few diff types

as for foglights - I actually put the yellow tinted bulbs in as in the fog the yellower the light the better it is.

I've ordered the halogen ones as it happens. I think I am getting old because I am starting to prefer the original look. :D

How long do the ones you buy off eBay last roughly (I am obviously not completely old yet then)?
