M156 Engine - 6.2 V8.

Any high mileage examples on here - if so, how many miles?

I note the much discussed lawsuit bit the dust in Jan this year:

M156 lawsuit[edit source | edit]

In 2011, a class action lawsuit was filed in United States District Court in New Jersey against Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG for alleged defects in the M156 engine contained in AMG vehicles built in 2007-2011 model years leading to premature wear. The plaintiff claimed the combination of cast nodular iron camshafts and 9310 grade steel valve lifters contributed to the premature wear, but the defendants had known about the defect since 2007.[2]
The lawsuit lasted approximately 14-months. In November, 2012, litigation came to a halt when the New Jersey District Court dismissed the plaintiffs’ first amended complaint for lack of standing. The plaintiffs were given the opportunity to further amend their complaint to show that they had standing to sue, but plaintiffs made no further filings with the Court. On January 7, 2013, the Court signed an order closing the case. [3]

E63s are on my radar at the moment, but I'm getting concerns about durability, from what I'm reading.

A little while since this was last posted, so has anyone clocked up 90k + in a 63 yet, and if so, how is/was () the engine standing up?

A forum member friend has a c63 with 80k+ miles running in fine fettle.

There are a few high mileage examples of C63 currently advertised on autotrader.

That doesn't mean to say they have much life left without big expense! I've read that AMGs aren't what they used to be, and I'm torn between going the (newer) AMG route or the M276 (?) V8 5.5 M113 replacement in an E class, btw.

I've been told that there are some 80k plus miles C63's having camshaft wear issues now but like all these things we tend to hear of the worst and not the best!

Mine 84k and supercharged no problems till now.

I'd love to tell you but unfortunatley I still got a while then..;) infact it will take me years!

I have a 20,700k example if interested.

Over 250k on my m113 ;)!!!

M273 I think.

Need to ensure you get a later one though as earlier ones have issues with balance shaft/idler gear wear issues.
