Hi all, who can do this work in the north west? Don’t want loud for normal about town driving(Mrs), but a little more volume for spirited driving(me). Any help be appreciated

I also live in the North West but use MSL Performance (well, Torqueflow who are based there) in Birmingham on my cars.

They do these cars on a regular basis so know exactly how they should be done and will do it correctly. They will probably suggest an H pipe as opposed from an X as it suits these engines better. I'm assuming it's an M157 (5.5) by the way...

As above, Imran at Torquefow is well respected - I heard several of his works last Friday- awesome !
If you don’t want to travel , depending on your location you could try Cybox in Bromborough- they did some work on my SL previously and did a good job

Honestly why do that!? Modifying the exhaust totally changes thr AMG sound. I've seen videos of X / h pipe modded 5.5's and they sound like the 645ci I had which had the resonator and X pipe fitted. Sounded ok and loud but higher pitched and raspy. Totally not the sound of an AMG muscle car.

:wallbash:

Have you heard your car being driven from thr outside eg at a car wash? Get a friend to drive it around a car park for you. My e63 is loud already at town speeds and really loud at high revs.

That’s a very good point , I never hear my own car as I’m cosseted inside ...if I trusted anyone enough I’d let them drive it so I could hear it!
Is yours the 5.5 Bi Turbo though ?

I keep mulling over pulling a trigger on capristo valved back box. Would be nice to have engine a little louder at normal rpm where appropriate.

It’s a very good point. Watched the Mrs drive off last night, even at her slow pace it does sound well. Guess you don’t get the full experience when you are actually driving the car. Might hold off for now.

When I took the resonator off mine I did find it a marked improvement over the standard system.

However, when I removed the cats and fitted 3" front pipes from the turbos back it was possibly too loud for everyday use and the gentleman who now owns the car has since re-fitted the resonator.

He reckons it's a lot better with it back in place.

Dave that car sounded awesome in your possession. It was an inspiration for me to get my own E63s in the end. :)
