East Yorkshire Breakfast Meeting & more - Sunday 8th September

I’m going to ask if they do a Christmas Dinner Pie nearer the festive season, probably called “The Rudolf” :D if they do it might be the basis for the “East Yorkshire Breakfast Club Christmas Do” ;)
That sounds like good idea.

Looking forward to this would it be worth a WhatsApp group if anyone makes a detour/wrong turn?

Was thinking about a crimbo do for the curry club recently Andy... I really loved the Lion tho, do they do a crimbo feed ?

Hi everyone

The next East Yorkshire Breakfast Meeting is in the diary for Sunday 8th September. The plan will be to make this a bit more of a day out than our first two meetings for those who wish to do so. If you just want to meet for breakfast that’s fine.

The plan will be to meet at The Waterwheel for breakfast at the usual time , 9.30 to 10.00. There will be a drive out in the North Yorkshire Moors in the afternoon (route to be decided, but could be 100 miles) and then arrive at the Piebald Inn, Humanby near Filey for an afternoon meal at 3.00.

For those who have not visited the Piebald Inn it is renowned for their excellent choice of pies, which are the real thing and not “casseroles with a lid” :D

Those of you wanting to eat you will need to select a choice of pie in advance. Please check out the link to see what is available.

Please add your name to the list below and indicate if you want to join us for the drive out to dine at the Piebald Inn. I will gather a list of which pie you would like a little nearer the date. :thumb:

For your satnav

Just in case anyone gets lost , dropped, I’d suggest you put these in your satnav before Sunday.

The Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge, Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, YO62 7LQ

The Piebald Inn, 65 Sands Lane, Hunmanby, Filey, North Yorkshire, YO14 0LT

For those of you who are “old school” you might even want to have a look at the route on a map, and if you are extremely “old school” one of those paper ones that come in a book :D

PieMeister Paul

You are correct :) , The Wonky Donky is indeed a Xmas dinner in a pie , “Diced chicken, sage and onion stuffing, bacon, sausage meat and cranberries (Christmas dinner in a pie)”

Nearer Xmas they also do:

The Panto Horse which is a rich beef pie with seasonal spices, a mushroom duxcelle and chicken liver pate.

And

The Highland Pony which is a vegetarian pie including walnuts, chestnuts, rhubarb, seasonal vegetables, seasonal spices and vegetarian haggis.

So as not to drift too far off thread, and into the North Sea as we are very near Filey , once we have got this meeting out of the way we can plan our “Xmas Do”, wherever that turns out to be :thumb:

Will be checking on waist sizes tomorrow to see who ate all the pies:D
