Hi,
Ive been having nightmare with my Sprinter van over the last six months.
Excessive billows of white smoke (especially at idle and on acceleration) and fumes in cab.
Problem comes and goes as it pleases
All injectors replaced at the Mercedes garage - problem persisted
DPF removed and re programmed - problem persisted
Van re programmed to 'stock' settings and problem persisted
On the verge of selling the van now, but want to try one last thing.
- Checking the EGR valve
My question is: Would a re mapped ECU (for economy performance, which it is currently set at) mess the EGR valve up?
Or would the potential problem with the EGR valve be a physical problem.
Van has been in for numerous services and oil changes (because of rising, contaminated oil level) at two different official Mercedes commercial garages. But we can NEVER find the cause of this smoke !
Im based in Midhurst, West Sussex. If there is anyone local who thinks they may be up for the task of figuring this out let me know I would love to hear from you! - before I put it in another garage and spend another fortune getting nowhere
