Emissions recall

Hello all. Two issues here, I wonder if anyone has dealt with these yet?
Just got a recall notice from MB re the diesel emissions scandal, however I hear that the car runs worse afterwards and is less economical, has anyone experienced this?
Also, I've seen several ads from no win no fee solicitors that are setting up a mass claim against MB regarding the above. Wondering if anyone else has signed up yet and who with? My local merc specialist say that some folk have fallen foul by making mistakes on the application process and have been lumbered with costs with these no win no fee companies.

They have had a payout in America for that as you more than likely know. As we were in the EU and mercs being German its all been brushed under the carpet. Also as we are out of the EU they don't want to stir up any trouble with them. Lastly Have you ever known a solicitor do anything for nothing, NO!! in my opinion.

Had a couple of minor motorbike injuries pay out, they get to make 30-50% from a claim. Yes the US lawyers are advertising here.

Solicitors get a big chunk. I think some have looked at the Ts & Cs which say if you miss communication with the solicitor you will be liable for fees (because once you've applied, they need you to respond and in a timely way for them for make the case etc).

In US, the amount you get depends on whether previous owners of your car make a claim (more claims against a specific vehicle, less per person I think).
As part of the settlement process, you have to book your car in for the emissions update and get the work done before they will pay you anything.

The terms and conditions laid out in the small print of one solicitor, can't remember which one now, were very vague. It stated they have insurance policy to cover their costs in the claim is unsuccessful but there was also a very ambiguous paragraph which appeared to say that everyone involved in the action would have to chip in to pay any costs awarded to Mercedes in this event.

These could run into millions I would imagine.

Had my c220 cdi 2013 in for air bag recall on 21/4/21 at Mercedes Leeds they did the diesel software update and ever since it’s been in limp mode I asked why I wasn’t told they said it’s part of the recall so I explained it’s not and got in to a long discussion with them about their illegal software and eventually the workshop manager agreed that it is down to this and they would fix my car I took it in yesterday and got a message saying cars fixed and to collect it so I went today 1/5/21 to collect and Mercedes Leeds take it to another level told me my car is fixed when I drive 100 yards it’s back to limp and return back tell them it’s not fixed and this time I asked for a courtesy car as I’ve not been able to drive my car for almost 2 weeks and I’ve been very patient and not asked for 1 previously but now it’s becoming a joke asking for lifts and they straight refuse then when I ask to speak to a manager (Paul at Mercedes Leeds) he refused to talk to me then when someone I work with who is there asks me what is wrong and I start to tell him, the manager runs up to me really aggressive and lunges at me like he is going to punch me and his homeboy Rashid starts calling me a **** head I really don’t think that’s the service you should get from a prestigious car brand. All I want is my car to run the same as when I took it to them

Sorry to hear this.

All I can say is that after reading posts like yours, the combination of expensive Adblue faults, the emissions recall, and the dealers' attitude, put me off ever buying a Diesel Merc, or recommending it to anyone. In short, when it comes to Mercedes, it's petrol, petrol-hybrid, or EV - but never Diesel.

As for your situation, I would start by putting things in writing, my experience is that verbal disagreements often don't lead to a resolution.

My diesel S350 is awesome and it's going to stay that way for two reasons..
One, I'm not having the so called upgrade recall and two I'm not taken in by plush Mercedes main dealers. I always use independent merc specialists because they care about their rep'.
This chaps story is horrendous and he should go straight to Mercedes UK.

Don’t be silly, of course you can, it’s blatant racism by a minority that needs to be challenged and stopped. A bit sad that, on a weekend where there is an international movement involving millions to cut racism out of social media on here it goes unchallenged, and even supported by some

Under no circumstances is my comment racist I used the word homeboy because he was backing Paul up 100% even though he saw the incident

Rubbish. Is the man's name Rashid? Was he supporting Paul? If the answer to both questions is "Yes", then common sense suggests the problem here is your perception, not racism.

Not being street wise I didn't know that "Homeboy" had any particular connotation so the comment didn't read as racist to me either. If people constantly look to interpret every little comment as racist then I don't think that is doing the cause any good at all, in fact quite the opposite.
