engine clicks but wont start?

help! this started last weekend. and i dont know if its related to the problem i have now. when i locked the car, the hazard lights start to flash as if the alarm was on but with no sound. after unlocking and locking the car a few times it stopped. then today i tried starting the car and all im getting is a click then nothing. the battery seems to have plenty of power. any ideas. got a job interview tomorrow and need the car to be working asap.

Have you tested the battery?

all the lights and stereo is working ok. so i would guess the battery is working

The starter needs a lot more power than the stereo. If the battery is low you usually get the click you described - it doesn't even attempt to turn the engine over.

ok, i guess with the cold weather we have had recently it may drained the battery. i just need to source one that i could borrow. thanks

ok. got a jump start, and took the car to halfords for a battery check. it was running at 41%. means nothing to me?. anyway got a new battery fitted. but everytime i lock the car up the hazard lights just keep flashing. i dont really want to drain the new battery so any idea's on this.
