Right guys, I drove from Portsmouth yesterday to Teesside with no problems so around 300 miles.
This morning I turned my car on drove down the road and tried to overtake a car, the OBD light came on the dash and I lost all power as in throttle, so I pulled over and then the car wouldn't start.
I gave it five minutes worrying how to get it home tried to restart it and it was fine ???
I'm confused as to why this happened was it because the engine was too cold or because I was on reserve fuel ?

I couldn't of ran out of fuel as it started again fine ?
I've never had this issue before, please help as I'm worrying this could be an expensive fix ?

So after this problem this morning all was fine, no lights up on dash etc..

The car was driving and pulling fine, I then decided to clean the maf sensor. When I refitted it, the car won't go about 3,000 rpm and after I have disconnected the negative terminal and reconnected it, the car starts fine and revs to red line in park and in neutral but soon as I drive it won't go about 3,000 rpm.

Should I replace the maf sensor for a brand new one as that's the only thing that's changed on the car since it was running fine ?
I don't know why I bothered to try and clean it.
I was worrying incase it was the inlet manifold or swirl flaps which I have heard is expensive.

Any advice or help would be great guys, and do I need to have the ecu reset Etc.. After changing the maf or just plug and play as I have heard too many different stories ?

Please help ????

I'm no expert, but it might be the crank shaft position sensor?

It's a common thing, to have the CPS play up.
It's a very simple and relatively cheap component that is an easy swap out.. although I've never changed one myself.

My CPS decided to pack up not too long ago. It happens completely out of the blue and shows no warnings. My car just cut out as I was pulling up to a petrol pump. Wouldn't start. After it had cooled abit, it started no problem and I managed to drive all the way to my dealers who fitted a new sensor under warranty.

Hopefully one of the more technically minded will chime in.

Well guys, went for the cheapest option a maf sensor. Plug and plug £45.00 and drives like brand new !
