The theory is that it is a good idea to regularly flush the engine during oil changes, to avoid build-up of sludge and deposits.
However if you flush a high-mileage engine that has never been flushed before there is a small risk that the flush will dislodge some sludge which will then go on to block one of the small oil passages and will kill the engine.
Said that I have flushed high-mileage engines in the past and had no issues, though I obviously can't say if this is because the 'theory' is rubbish or simply because I was lucky....
i personally wouldnt use a engine flush, why do you think it needs a engine flush? Just give it a oil and filter change then again at 1k later if you think it needs it. I always give my cars 3k between oil and filter changes.
Personally I think it's marketing bull. The key word being flush , you flush your toilet to make it clean, your flush your body through to make you feel better etc etc. Would like to see facts that this is 100% beneficial to engines.
Hi sorry to hiJack this thread , but I've just bought a s350 cdi blutec with 135000mls.
It's due a service been 15000mls, I usually change oil on my 642 every 10000mls. I was thinking of flushing the engine. What would be your thoughts , what oil would be recommended .
Sifting through the receipts I've found that the guy I bought it from uses you guys at prestige car services .
