Welcome. Try doing a search on chips, chipping, remapping, you'll be amazed what you'll find!

Try here:

1/ I had one on my W203 C200cdi, great improvement in torque. This chip has now been moved onto my W204 C220cdi with even better results.
2/ Very easy to fit. If you are near Mansfield call in, they will fit while you wait.
3/ Loss of warranty if something goes wrong, obviously this is only to engine and possibly g/box. BUT..... 30 seconds to remove without tools, who would know a chip had been fitted?

If the car is the new C class, think carefully. The C200cdi has a reduced cost gearbox that´s only rated for the 270Nm that the car produces.

I would be amazed if the technical support at Mercedes-Benz UK did not have the equipment to check.

I'm sorry if I come across as rude, that is not my intent, but I will respectfully suggest that if we are man enough to flout the warranty terms and conditions, Then we should have the courage of our convictions and face up to anything that goes wrong.

Fit the chip, inform the insurance company and be prepared to invalidate the warranty.

Sorry to be an old grouch but I have an image I must keep up

Kind regards

That might be another problem, I asked Elephant about fitting a Kleemann chip and they would not cover it.

I have still original gearbox in my car...
It is same as in 220cdi.
Driven now over 180 000km.
Over 400nm all the time.

200cdi have "weaker" clutch/flywheel.
Original clutch slips before any bigger damage.
It can hold ~400nm torque.
220cdi clutch/flywheel then little more, maybe near 500nm.

I asked my Insurance company about covering my old CLK270 if I fitted the Brabus D* chip some time ago.

They refused.

Some people smoke 60 cigarettes a day and also survive 80 years, doesn't mean everyone who does that will survive so long.

And it isn't generating 400Nm all the time, only when called for.....

.
You don’t need any extra power, if you really want to break your car.
If you want it that way.

You have opinions about the subject.

I have that kind of car.
I have experience about the subject.
I wrote only, what I have noticed.

I have experience in the subject too; I work with Daimler in setting the engine calibration up in the first place. :D

Sorry
I don’t understand.

Do you test cars/parts.
Or choose the parts.
Or plan them.

Diesel, or petrol cars, or both.

Books ringside seat..

All three! Our team is the one that fills all 25000 variables in the ECU with sensible numbers. In the case of the gearbox it has to be argued why the customer deserves more than 270Nm when it's so much more expensive (Save a few pounds per car, make thousands a day and make millions  ) Naturally we would like a little more, we're Engineers!

The job of meeting emissions, driveability, NVH, cost, reliability requires that the ones who calibrate all the maps, also need to specify axle ratios, no. of gears, capability of components etc

To your other question, Diesel, 4cyl.
